Legal cynicism is a person’s doubt about the fairness of law, as well as his doubts about the quality of lawmakers and law enforcement agents. This can have a negative effect on police-citizen relationships. “It can lead people to stop calling the police for help if they feel that the police are overburdened or simply do not care about the plight of residents of high crime areas” (Gau, 2015, p. 404).
