The Debate over School Uniform Introduction ============ This is an essay on the matter whether school uniform should be compulsory or not. We will discuss the advantages, disadvantages and I will write my own conclusion Advantages ---------- The advantages to wearing school uniform are good arguments. The first is you would be able to represent the school in public, giving the school a good name and also encouraging students to behave while outside school premises. The second is to easily be identified by the public, this would be ideal if a student were lost and unable to find there way home. The third is the practical implications it presents, by this I mean it allows students to think about their homework and revision without having to spend an hour deciding what shirt to match with which trousers etc, it also allows students to get dressed easily and quickly which also improves their punctuality. The fourth is equality among the school members this is also the best argument because all students are equal fashion wise. Which reduces the chance of being socially castaway, in simple terms this stops both physical and verbal bullying. Disadvantages ------------- The first disadvantage is how expensive the uniform is their have been many complaints about the price and there have also been complaints on what a short life the fabric has and how the stitches fall apart but the main reason is the companies can risk raising prices because there’s excess demand, this because every year millions are getting ready to go to school or high school and so there’s just too much demand and not enough supply. The second is how the uniforms are non-adaptive to weather, there have been many complaints in this area on how t either too hot or too cold. The third isn’t very serious but school children have complained its getting too boring wearing the same everyday for 200 days a year. Compromises ----------- The first is that students should have two different types of uniforms

It is a great idea for schools to implement a policy on school uniforms because statistics show that students who wear uniforms make better grades, the male students are not going to be distracted by what the female students are (or aren't) wearing, and students feel a sense of fairness with one another as they are all wearing the same things and when students are at one with one another their confidence soars, which leads to doing better at school. Student uniforms helps with reducing the amount of bullying therefore the students who would normally be bullied now have a much better disposition while at school, which will lead to a healthier safer learning environment. When students feel less threatened at school, they can concentrate better which leads to better grades. The schools which have an enforced uniform policy have properly dressed students. When teenage girls, want to impress teenage boys dress inappropriately it causes a lot of distractions and trouble. The girls are also envious of on one another so unrest is caused in the classroom throughout the day, not only with the boys who are looking at the girls, but also at the girls who are jealous of the ones getting the attention.
Being hypothermic or having frostbite on any part of your body can be very dangerous. This is an interesting topic because it can happen to anyone at anytime and if your are not prepared for it, it can be life threatening. If you are just going out to play in the snow and you are not dressed warm enough or all your skin is not covered frostbite can develop and you are at risk of hypothermia. Even if it is not snowing and there is not a cloud in the sky you can develop hypothermia if it is cold enough. If you are going to go hiking or skiing you will want to be aware of what hypothermia is and what to do if you get frostbite as this can result in the amputation of limbs and fingers. When skiing up in Vermont over Christmas break while going down the mountain my fingers started hurting and they were very cold. My dad and I were going down to the base of mountain, it was our final run of the day. We were skiing in negative 20 degree weather. This sparked my interest in hypothermia and frostbite because if we had not decided to get off the mountain frostbite developed on my hands and fingers and I would have run the risk of maybe getting them amputated. The purpose of writing this paper is to show how dangerous and lethal hypothermia and frostbite are if not taken care of properly.

Instead, it talks about influences that cause “disharmony” in Yin and Yang, the Essential Substances, the Organ System, the Channels, and the Five Phases (Cohen 37). “The Six Pernicious Influences-Heat, Cold, Wind, Dampness, Dryness and Summer Heat-are external climatic forces that can invade the body and create disharmony in the mind/body/spirit” (Cohen 37). With symptoms relating to heat, you can either have an excess of heat or a deficiency of it. Excess heat usually lasts for short periods of time and has symptoms such as high fevers, irritability and restlessness, thirst, little or no sweat or urine, and a flushed face. Heat rises in nature, as it also does in your body. That is why the upper areas of your body are the ones that suffer from excess heat. If you have an insufficient amount of heat you might suffer from hot hands and feet, fevers that occur in the afternoon, sore throat, inability to fall asleep, and irritability. Conditions of insufficient heat are chronic and are caused by a reduction of the body’s own healthy energy. Heat affects many different organs in the body, so it is not uncommon to hear things like liver heat, heart heat, and stomach heat in TCM (Gao 37-8).

School uniforms are increasingly being enforced in public schools throughout the country, amidst a slew of opposition. Some people believe that school uniforms do not help our schools and their students, but hurt the schools and smother the student’s freedom. More specifically, some schools in the Greeley/Evans School District 6 have adopted school uniforms to try and improve the respective schools problems while some schools haven’t adopted uniforms. This leads people to question, should the Greeley-Evans School District adopt a school uniform policy?
Many public schools are requiring students to wear uniform to help deplete bullying. With that said many students have either been victimized do to bullying or bullied victims in the past. Bullying happens almost every day whether in one’s own neighborhood, a local park and or at school. Children fine many things to bully others about; such as fashion, gang affiliations, school spirit. Therefore, the debate over uniforms and dress codes is long going and also familiar Kizis, S. (2000, 09). Schools then experimented with an option for uniforms to see if any changes in behavior will evolve. Moreover some education facilities find that a supplement solution that helps eliminate some aspects of bullying is an implication of school uniforms.
One of the greatest controversies that is spreading throughout high schools in the United States is parents and their children against the enforcement of their school’s uniform policy. More schools have been adopting uniform policies within the past decade. Rules contained in the policy that are implemented range from wearing certain types of tops (shirts) in specified colors to students being required to tuck in their shirts. In the past, uniforms were exclusively for students who attended private schools because they were “well-off”, but now uniforms are being seen more frequently in public schools on students of all economic levels. Having gone through a school system that considered adopting a uniform policy, I would have to press against the issue of mandated uniforms, because it is simply un-American and unjust.
In society today, school-age children are under tremendous pressure to fit in with their peers and still perform well academically. I believe that school uniforms in pre-K through high school levels is an excellent way to help children succeed not only in school, but to prepare them for college and the “real world.” Three reasons why I believe school uniforms should be used in all schools is first, they are economic, next, they reduce distractions and finally, they help with social equality.
At the beginning of the 20th century almost no parent or faculty had any concerns with how students dressed to attend school. Nowadays, though, this is a giant concern among students, parents, and school board officials. Many arguments have been made over the matter saying uniforms should be required and enforced in schools. But, uniforms should not be required as they ultimately eliminate freedom of expression, promote conformity over individuality, may have a detrimental effect on students self image, emphasize the socioeconomic divisions they are supposed to eliminate, and lastly, school uniforms in public schools undermine the promise of a free education by adding an extra expense for families.

They typically include bottoms in neutral colors like khaki, black, or even dark green, and tops that are either neutral or in the school colors. Sometimes the uniforms will include a special striped tie in the school colors for both girls and boys. The girls may also have the option to wear pants, skirts, or dresses. The uniforms are degrading and appalling. Everything would be dull and boring if everyone looked the same and wore the same stuff! Whatever happened to our U.S. Constitution?
