DC Comics sent their press partners a very cool gift combining the 30th Anniversary of The Dark Knight Returns and the new DKIII: The Master Race mini-series. It was definitely successful in getting me excited enough to share my wonderful gifts with my readers. I got home late one night to find a big box taking up space on one of my living chairs. I couldn’t wait to bust it open. My two kids saw it was from DC and demanded I wake them as soon as I got home so they could see me open it. Neither they nor myself were disappointed by what we found inside. As I lifted the stuffing paper out of the box, I beheld a large black box with a wrapper around it that stated, “30 - The Dark Knight Returns.” I carefully pulled the wrapper off the box and opened it. Inside were three spaces holding different items. They consisted of a bust, books, and a journal. I was the recipient of what has become known as The Dark Knight Returns 30th Anniversary Package. …show more content…

Imagine a Batman birthed in 1939 aging with his readership, so come 1986 he is retired. Who would his villains be? Not the Joker, or the Cat Woman, but Nuclear War, Reaganomics, a Bipartisan government, and the fear of nuclear attack. And so once again, Superman and his friends helped us solve our problems, the enemies of the common

When comics were first coming out, they were not all that popular but in todays’ world, they have become very popular and well known. Several of these comics have been turned into films, which is one of the many reasons why the popularity has been rising over the years. One of the most well known comics is Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. This comic was composed and released in 1986 by Frank Miller. With the usage of Frank Miller’s powerful, intense lines and the artwork done by Klaus Janson’s and Lynn Varley’s it has elevated this comic up to the very top of mainstream comics. In Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, the skillful illustrations on the pages successfully create the thought that there are underlying meanings, which makes the atmosphere a very intense one throughout the comic. The work of art that is presented on the pages in this comic are embedded in such a way that the pages become the continuum for the meaning. One of the main themes that are imbedded on the pages through the artwork in this book is the ideological struggle between Bruce Wayne and Batman.
The briefcase is introduced in the very first chapter. The narrator receives it after giving a speech endorsing Booker T. Washington’s philosophy of black subservience in front of his hometown’s leading white citizens (and after being forced to fight like an animal for their entertainment in the “battle royal”). Wrapped in white tissue paper symbolizing the skin color and mistrustful nature of the gift’s givers, the calfskin brief case is awarded to him by his school’s superintendent. Inside is a scholarship to an all-black college. The superintendent, who moments before watched him attempt to pluck coins from an electrified rug, says to him, “Boy, take this prize and keep it well. Consider it a badge of office” (32). The irony is that the only “badge of office” it signifies is that of good slave. He also says, “Someday it will be filled with important papers” (32). This is especially ironic considering what happens to those “important papers” at the end of the novel.

I didn’t take on this job as Creative director for nothing; I know, I have the style and flashiness to make the sickest book cover! I just need to figure out this shopping part.

Catacombs are underground passageways that were used for religious practices, as well as a place for burial when people passed away. Catacombs have spread to different corners of the world but have roots in the Middle East about 6,000 years ago. Many catacombs exist around the world even today and are located in countries such as Austria, Egypt, England, France, Spain, and Italy. The pagan custom of disposing of bodies is to incinerate. The Christian, and Jewish method is to bury the bodies of the dead. At the time Christianity was not widespread most catacombs were dug outside of Rome because Roman law did not allow burial places to be located in Rome. Due to the fact that most Christians were either poor or slaves, they therefore did not have the money to purchase land for burial
As portrayed by Christopher Nolan in “The Dark Knight Trilogy,” Batman, aka, Bruce Wayne, begins by customizing a black suit from Wayne Enterprises, made from “Kevlar bi-weave” and “Reinforced joints.” The Joker also wears a custom suit; however, his ensemble, purchased from stolen money from the mob, is made from ordinary vulnerable fabric and is distinguished by its color purple.

Standing a mere three feet tall at most, it guards the door of my bedroom as a silent sentry. Its dual levels have been incessantly reordered to house each item in an aesthetic and efficient manner. The faded brown of the wood highlights the array of bright covers that lay at the front, patiently waiting to be withdrawn and analyzed once more. This humble bookcase is the crowning jewel of my personal space. The walls are lined with a diverse selection of truly enthralling books, all penned by arguably the most astute minds of all time. The knowledge of centuries lies at my finger tips, breathlessly hungering for me to turn the pages and absorb its riches.
Any fan of Batman knows that “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight” are two of the best Batman films made in the seventy-eight years that Batman has been around. The plots really make you look deep in yourself and show the true and more real sides of the characters of the Batman world. Each movie shows the evolution of Batman and shows only a few of the many crazy and intense adventures of this mysterious hero. These two movies are the first two in the dark knight trilogy, created by the amazing Christopher Nolan. These movies were heavily praised for their astounding realism to the real world, and its pros and cons. But they were also extremely liked for their possibility for
