Discrimination is unfair and wrong, but everyone is guilty of discriminating. People are scared to be on the same plane as a muslim because of a few bad people that happened to be of the muslim faith. Some are scared to go to church because they think that Christians are judgmental and hypocritical. Most of all, people are so quick to disagree with Atheistsand tell them every way they are wrong before listening to their reasoning. Discriminating against other religions is very common, and so many bad things happen as a result of it. It happens much more than people think because of so many reasons.

Imagine being discriminated anyplace you went, with glares from many and you haven’t done anything to receive those judgments. Muslim Americans in the U.S. have to deal with that discrimination every day post the events that happened on 9/11. Some take drastic measures such as changing their birth name, in hopes that they can avoid being judged by others. Muslim teenager Alisha, told her story that while visiting Six Flags with her family, an American man yelled at her father with the racial comment, “F**k you Osama!” She would also get asked offensive questions, like if she hated Jews too. People who engage in relationships with someone from the Muslim population are harassed for having a romantic affiliation with someone who they would call a “terrorist”. Along with getting called horrific names, many have become objects of suspicion.

While both race and gender have very real societal and, in some instances, personal consequences which enables both to be categorized as real neither race nor gender is more real than the other. Both of them faced and still face overt and covert discrimination, and both of them are built upon a mountain of logical fallacies that are able to ultimately be reduced down to societal standards and obligations forced upon them by the dominant group. Since they are also both deeply embedded in our culture they have become integrated into our sense of who we, as humans, are and in our perceptions of other people and situations.
Muslims have been discriminated since the mid 90’s and especially post 9/11 era. In this section I will explain the life of Muslim in the U.S and how Muslims have been and still are getting racially discriminated. There will be four major factors I will talk about in this section on racial profiling of muslims, which are before 9/11, after 9/11, the current lives of Muslims, and what we can do to help racial profiling on Muslims. Starting with how Muslim discrimination started even before 9/11. Many people think that racial profiling started happening to Muslims post 9/11 because of the modern movies that show racial profiling after 9/11 but that's false, racial profiling started happening in 1997 a year after the group Al Qaeda was formed. The name and title that was given to the muslims and the middle easterners is extremely racially profiled ever since the terrorist group was formed. The group was formed by a Usama Bin Laden who opposed the United States and many other countries for many reason, one being because of the country's ideological views. Bin Laden was not happy with all the racial views and freedom in other countries thus at the same time middle easterners started migrating to the U.S as refugees because of all the negative impacts Al Qaeda was doing to the Middle east. For example attacking small villages in Iraq, extremist views,forcement by the government. Not only that but because of the poor living conditions in the east like poverty, loss of water, deaths, and one of the biggest issues Muslim Feminism. Feminism was on a rise. Society shapes racial inequality in the modern United States and Wayne Brekhus (2015) looks at how social marking is an element of culture in American society. When discussing race, people tend to talk about discrimination against marginalized communities (i.e. non-whites, females, homosexuals, etc.). To make false presumptions about someone based on their skin color, gender, religion, or many other factors is so common. It’s disgusting that we do this to others, but it does happen. Hate crimes in the United States are common, caused by racism and religious bias. We have police killing unarmed African Americans because of racial bias, unequal pay for women, our president has discriminated against transgender people, attempting to ban them from the military services, the list goes on and on.
