It reads, "God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that people become homosexuals because of sin and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as some people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person’s choosing to sin by giving in to sinful desires." This passage rings true and is something that, I feel, Lee can 't come to terms with.
Those who believe that homosexuality is wrong do so by quoting certain phrases from the Bible. For example: Romans 1:24-27; Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural us for what is against nature.
Just shoving it in someone’s face that homosexual marriage is ‘wrong’ because it offends God, is wrong. You have to take in consideration that those people’s beliefs may be different of your own. In the Bible it says in Matthew 7:1-2 (the words of Jesus), “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others you will be judged, and with the measure you used, it will be measured to you.” It’s cruel to judge people by the way they love and who they love. It says in Genesis 1:31, “God saw all that he made and it was very good.” This right here proves to those who believe that God hates homosexuals that it is in correct.
Today, in the 21st century, gay couples face marriage discrimination from religions, mostly from Christianity. Several arguments against gay marriage has risen in the recent years. The most common religious argument against same-sex marriage revolves around scripture, which many faith communities believe came directly from the mouth of God, and they interpret scripture to forbid the practice of homosexuality, and by extension, same-sex marriage (Baker). Homosexuality itself is not a sin because it is just an attraction to one’s own gender but, to the faith communities, the practice of homosexuality makes it a sin. Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable (New International Version Bible, Leviticus 18:22).
This oppression is in direct contradiction with the teachings of Jesus’ ministry which stressed “a call to compassion and solidarity with those who are oppressed” (LoPresti 135). Therefore, the Christians view of homosexuality seems to be restricting, in that homosexuals are restricted from living a life without oppression. Overall, the Christian view of human sexuality appears to be quite restrictive on the issues of contraception, nonmarital sex, and homosexuality. Furthermore, these unresolved issues within the church need to be updated to fit new circumstances which we know to be ok today, like homosexuality and contraception. No religion is a perfect religion, but it is though the continual evaluations of church teaching that we begin to find more logical, and accepting religion.
We Must Teach the Homosexual About Christ All sins are forgivable and we are all sinners, but sin has to be recognized for what it is if divine mercy is to be had. So much of the talk about homosexuality is an understandable human effort to change the subject. Any reference to the wrongness of homosexuality is likely to invite the charge of homophobia, turning the accusation on the supposed accuser. But of course the moral law is not the property of anyone, and invoking it need not be an accusation. The problem is not how others react to homosexuality but the plight of the homosexual.
Traditionally, homosexuality in itself is viewed within the Catholic Church as morally evil and it has never been accepted. Pastoral counseling has been offered to allow members of the Church who identify themselves as homosexual to assist them to remain good members of the Church. A reflection on the Church’s history and influences in terms of the development of prejudices against homosexuality may be necessary in order to determine the real root of the issue. Some individuals believe that a change in doctrine is necessary in order to fix the problems regarding homosexuality within the Church, while others stand by Pope Francis and believe that progress can be made without having to undergo such a drastic change. As gay rights continue to become a more apparent issue in today’s global society, the Catholic Church does not need to consider a change in doctrine, however the members if the Church do need to consider following the suggestions of Pope Francis by becoming more open to and tolerant of the idea of homosexuals within the Catholic community.
Since we do not have a sophisticated moral and behavioral vocabulary with regard to homosexual development, orientation, and behavior — as we do with heterosexuality — the use of the plural is necessary to avoid glibness and to pursue accurate definition and delineation. Homosexuality is a reality in human nature, in the function and structure of the church, and in the lives of some Christian men, priests, and bishops. It is also that reality, even if frequently misunderstood, that has the potential for the greatest crisis for ecclesiastical integrity.
Bottom line is, one's lifestyle have to line up with the word of God. The gay lifestyles are an abomination to God. Honestly, if a church does accept a gay couple to join, my advice is to stay away from that church because they are compromising the word of God. Judging is not the case, but holding one accountable for their acting’s are. I am a Pastor!
People are always saying how being gay is not okay, and that God says in the bible that it should be man and woman not man and man. But It also says in the bible that no one should judge one another, whether it be on looks, height, race, and or gender. So I feel like all these people that are judging all the people who are making the decision to be gay is wrong. If they truly went off of what the bible said, They’d know that all sins are equal. So them judging them about being gay is a sin, well they’re sinning just like the gays are.
