Dev Patel 10.7.15 “People Call Me Crazy” – The Continuing Story I watched him trip as he fell into the water like a monkey. My heart was shivering. I was wearing a jacket of fear as I saw him splash into the fast flowing river. I didn’t know what to do. Questions, thoughts and emotions rushed through my head. I felt like a lonely mouse, who lost his parents. This was the worst moment of my life because I was worried for Richie and was also lost. Just then, this idea hit me. I thought of going into the water and trying to save him, but even thinking of water made me scared. I didn’t have a choice; I had to go into the river and rescue him. I will come to your aid” I said. I jumped into the river without thinking of the water, but there was this huge current. As a result, water was all over my face. I couldn’t even see Richie. I could only hear him. My battle towards Richie was breathtaking. Finally, I reached Richie and picked him up. I carried Richie, which felt like 50 elephants to land and laid him down. “Richie, Richie!!! Are you ok?” I asked. Not a single word came out from the drenched body. Therefore, I thought he was dead, but I could still hear his heartbeats. I realized that he was unconscious. Quickly, I grabbed some water from the river and threw it on his face. Suddenly, he woke up and said, “Thank you so much, Thatcher for saving me. Without you I would’ve been dead”. “No problem” I replied. We still had another problem to deal with. We were lost. This felt like the toughest day of my life. On the other hand, it was also a fun experience because I kind of overcame my fear of water since I saved Richie and fought my way through the current. Next, we just realized that we found the camp. We found our way because we found the river. Next, we carefully crossed the branch making sure of our surroundings. We walked a few steps and then, we saw our group. I felt like I dropped a mountain off of my shoulders. I was so relieved that we were safe. The group was looking for us and were really worried.
