People tend to take communication lightly and not knowing that speaking to one another is the key to everything in our modern world. I myself use to be one of those people, I thought that using no communication was just using jargon, but I was wrong. I remember watching some of the greatest speakers of all time and was amazed at how they can captured the audience’ attention and the audience can feel the impact of the words. For example, Joel Osteen is a great motivational speaker and as I watch the screen and listen to his message, I feel as if I am in the same stadium as he is. His message is so powerful and strong that it delivers exactly what his intentions are. Then to add to his speech, he has a scripture from the Bible to follow along …show more content…
An example is you standing on stage and you are speaking to about seventy five people and you are giving a speech on what the company made this year and how they can improve on their revenue and you, are speaking with a low voice that no one can hear this kind of communicating will make the executives think you do not know what you are talking about when you really do. Now when you stand on that same stage and give that same speech and project your voice so that everyone can hear and understand what you are presenting to them, it now shows those same people that we got the right person for the …show more content…
For example in certain countries in the middle-east speak different types of Arabic. Many of the people live in the same city but speak different dialects so they understand each other but only to an extent.
My public speaking speech assignment was much better than I expected and I delivered my speech quite well. The speech I decided to discuss was my persuasive speech. The topic I selected was budget cuts/child care centers. I selected this speech because it is a priority in this current state and across our nation. The governor of Illinois is making it harder for working parents to get child care for their children. We currently have a licensed high quality child care which depends on state funding to provide care for families. If these funds are cut, it will affect us and families in many
Reflect on everyday life conversations, it can relate to you, the audience Now this leads to, are we really communicating effectively? With fragmented words, as we do with our cellphone texts.
Good business communication helps get the job done well, on time and on budget. The boss or team member who can communicate objectives, reasoning and step-wise tasks in a concise and coherent manner contributes more to a company 's success than one who does not. These communicators are highly valued in today 's complex and competitive business world, and are often earmarked for promotion and increased responsibility."(Communication, 2016)
The spoken words have magical impact on workforce as each human mind has deepest desire of being addressed or spoken to. It helps in inspiring the teams and touching their emotional chord. Hierarchy rules of top down approach, may not find favour with contrarians. They know the meaning of getting the feedback at the ground.
Communication is an important area of leadership, because it is essential to be able to effectively communicate in both one’s personal and professional life. When it comes to Model the Way, communication is able to relate because it is important to communicate with those one interacts with on a regular basis. This means being able to find your voice is important to consider, because when it comes to bringing people
The correct words have the ability to start and maintain a relationship with anybody. The best salesman understands the key concepts to using the correct words, at the correct timing. In an article by Steven Martin, he goes over tips to become a great sales person. Martin noted, Successful customer communications are the foundation of all sales, and the most persuasive and effective salespeople — the ones I call “Heavy Hitters” — naturally speak in the language of their customers.” (Martin, 2010). Martin goes on to explain that if someone wanted to be the best at this game, they were going to have to learn to communicate. Words have the power of life and death. There has been told of stories of people who prevented others from attempting suicide, just from talking the person out of it. There’s even more stories of people who were given strength to step out on faith, just from listening to some encouraging words. So then it must be true that words even have the ability to bring life and death. At many times people do not consider the significances of this conviction. If they did, they probably would be more considerate of how they talk to others around
We like to think that when we talk to others, that it is our words that convey the message to our audience, but what if I told you there was more to it than that? When people stop and listen to us, they not only listen - they are watching our body language - and sometimes our body language is telling a totally different story to what our words are saying!
When interacting with fellow members of their culture, individuals use speech patterns like dialects and vernacular, communicating a sort of inclusion to the group. Dialects vary among different regions depending on the distinct uses of the language, such as accents and pronunciation, of those who inhabit the area. Vernacular also varies among different cultures as the use of language structure differs in ways such as grammar. When one interacts with others of another region that use a different vernacular or dialect, they can become more aware of their own identity as these differences accentuate the distinctness across cultures.
In Comilla people talk in a totally different dialect from the one that I used to, so it was even harder to communicate. They would say “kellai” and where I would say “keno”, but they both mean “why” in English. I had really hard times talking to my relatives there, who lived in the village since they were born. Sometimes my grandma would say totally different words from the one that I am accustomed too. She would ask if I want to eat chicken. She would say “koora”, where I would say “moorgi”, but they both mean “chicken” but the words are totally different. I used to know the dialect back when I used to visit there regularly. But since, I went there after so long, I totally forgot the dialect from there. In Bangladesh, people from different regions speak Bengali in different dialects. One of my sisters-in-law grew up speaking Chittagongi, which to me feels like totally different language, because the dialect that they speak in is that different from the way I speak Bengali. She does speak the dialect that I speak in normally. It is because that’s the “normal” and “proper” way to speak the language. But she does speak the Chittagongi dialect with her
Language is the primary means by which the human species communicate with one another. Within any region of the world, members of the homo sapien species employ language as a communicative and social device, though these may differ according to region. It is often the case that there is linguistic difference across parts of the world, as inhabitants of different regions speak different languages. For example, the main language used in Germany is German, while in France, French is dominant language. Furthermore, even within a language, there are different varieties, such as in the case of English, where a multitude of varieties exist, including British English, American English, Hong Kong English, and Indian English. These branches
Not everyone is a believer, but an individual must be still communicated to as one of God’s child. It is a privilege to be one God’s children. The greatness privilege of being a child of God is a relationship. A relationship with God explains the mature or immature level of communication perceived to help in a person’s growth. So, the suggested theoretical component that aid basic communication is preferably preparation. Without preparation, other aids are relevant. Other aids include, visual, conciseness, and being able to relate. Other forms of basic communication consist of handout, demonstration or illustration, and lectures. These aids hold a foundations of shaping a philosophy of communication through activeness, written, and revelation. The aids help shape the thoughts and mindset of the creativeness of the speaker to connect with the audience. Preparation serves of value in relation with time, place, and power, to showcase the effects in communication with others. Time measure the length of attentiveness and how much information will obtained from the audience. Place is significance as well, because a place sets the comfort and seating arrangement of an audience. Power rest in the preparation involving visual aid, conciseness, and how the message relates to the audience. An audience or individual can express verbal and nonverbal communication at any given time, which can
There is a theory that dialects had started as a joke. People used dialects to mock each other for an incorrect saying. The mockery resulted to other people imitating it. In the end, people from that region would adopt that dialect as their own. Another theory is that "dialect mixing [occurred] in the camps of the conquerors, the influence of the languages and dialects of the conquered, and the formation of regional vernaculars." (Bishop) This is stating that certain dialects evolved as certain groups conquered certain regions. “Most people in Arabic speaking countries, do not speak Modern Standard Arabic. They only speak dialects. Even Arabic speakers themselves do not use the MSA when traveling to other countries.” (Benny Lewis)
One of the main aspects in communicating is listening. An effective listener is one who, not only comprehends how the speaker feels but, also understands what they are stating. Building a strong connection between the speaker and the listener is one of the first steps to become a good listener. By building this connection speakers should first be in an environment with open minded listeners, it makes them feel more comfortable to state their opinions, feelings and ideas. Listeners should avoid being judgmental. The individual does not have to agree with the ideas, values or opinions of the speaker; however, to fully understand them, one must put aside their criticism. Speakers will believe that they can trust the listeners with their information when they know that they will not be judged. Miscommunication happens frequently, listene...

Communication is stemmed from the act of speech, in which plays a huge role, not only at a workplace but in reality as well.
