The Birds is a book and a movie, and they both are interesting. There are similarities and differences when looking at the movie. The movie does not compare to the book in my opinion. I thought the movie was very funny. In the book I could imagine and feel what the characters were feeling, and for me it was much more serious but not that scary. There are a lot more differences when you compare the movie to the book, but when reading the book there are actually enough similarities that you know maybe the the movie director's actually read the book. The similarities are few and far between. The thing is there are some, but not as many as the differences and they are general things. Here is what I think; the book was not as exciting as the movie was so they had to do something to have people even consider watching it. I have to admit if the movie had been the actually story, it would have been pretty good. They changed it so that it would appeal to other people, and also it was a bit scarier than the book was. The movie also had a variety of different characters and more places and action. The book just didn’t have all of what the movie had so they had to do something to make it more exciting. They threw in Melanie and Mitch’s relationship giving that romantic air to the movie, and by adding more characters it made to where they could go into town or the school. It would have been weird to go into a town and no one was there even though there should be. If the director’s hadn’t changed the plot, it would have been a very boring movie with cliffhanger ending making people annoyed, upset, or just bored. The Birds is a very interesting movie and book. Even if it had a lot of differences and a few similarities. The thing is the movie directors had to make the changes or the movie wouldn’t have been that exciting, and the movie was funny even though it was meant to be scary.
