1. Below are some of the methods that Goebbels-the Nazi propaganda
minister used at the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
· One aspect of propaganda that Goebells used for the Berlin Olympics
was the actual stadium itself. It was built especially for the
occasion and was immense, to show that the Nazis were capable of
making huge and modern structures.
· Inside the stadium, there were hundreds of Swastikas everywhere in
the form of flags, banners or armbands.
· The event had man well organised ceremonies-emphasising the Nazi
belief in order and tradition.
· Hitler was given as much recognition as possible and a large part of
the ceremonies were dedicated to making him look good.
· The radio commentary that they had of the event was very good and
therefore encouraged Germans to listen to the radio more, which was
continually full of propaganda.
· The Hitler Youth also played a large part in the event and their
organised processions could encourage people to follow the Nazi party
and show people that they have the youth behind them.
2. Do you think that Hitler successfully showed:
a) That Germany was a modern country?
I think that in terms of showing Germany as a modern country-the
Berlin Olympics did a very good job and achieved the aim perfectly.
This is mainly due to the immense and fantastic stadium that was built
for the occasion, able to hold up to 100 000 people. This clearly
showed both the German people and the outer world-who were competing
in the Olympics that Germany was capable of creating incredible pieces
of architecture. The government also sowed off their technological
advances during the Olympics by using extensive radio coverage and by
making it the first sporting event to be covered on television.
b) That Germany was well organised?
I think in this respect, Hitler definitely showed that Germany was
well organised. The whole event was run particularly smoothly from
start to finish with militaristic parades commencing through out.

The controversy in Berlin Olympic Games was that the some of the Jews excluded from the Olympic team were actually world class athletes. The athletes left Germany, along with other Jewish athletes, to resume their sports careers abroad.The Nazis also disqualified Gypsies.The Olympics were intended to be an exercise in goodwill among all nations emphasizing racial equality in the area of sports competition. But the Nazis thought that only the Aryans should participate in the Olympics games to represent Germany.Then after that controversy then the committee of the Games wanted to move the Olympic Games to another country.This was because usually the U.S. got the most medals because they sent the most athletes.

Most people would classify the Berlin Olympic Games of 1936 as just another Olympics, and they would be right because the Games did have the classic triumphs and upsets that occur at all Olympic Games. What most people did not see, behind the spectacle of the proceedings, was the effect the Nazi party had on every aspect of the Games including the results. Despite Nazi Germany’s determination to come off as the superior nation in the 1936 Olympics, their efforts were almost crushed by the very people they were trying to exclude.

A lot of Olympians that are part of the summer Olympics are very athletic, they swim all year around. The swimming Olympic history and background is very interesting. They have done so many new things over that past couple of years. They come out with new rules every year to make things more fair and challenging. There are a lot of events and tons of records that have been broke. A lot of Olympians have set future goals to stride for. I was swimming the 200 meter fly I was at a really good time when I had 50 meter sprint left at the end all I could think about was I’m going to set the new world record. Olympic swimming is a very fun sport it is very athletic. Every year in the summer time every one always sits around a TV watching this it is very famous in America. Swimmers from all around the world come and here and compete. There is a lot of competition there I have found out a lot about the history of swimming. There are a lot of events and tons of records that have been broke. A lot of Olympians have set future goals to stride for.
How did politics affect the Olympic Games in 1936, 1968 and 1972? In 1934, the death of President Hindenburg of Germany removed the last remaining obstacle for Adolf Hitler to assume power. Soon thereafter, he declared himself President and Fuehrer, which means “supreme leader”. That was just the beginning of what would be almost 12 years of Jewish persecution in Germany, mainly because of Hitler’s hatred towards the Jews. It is difficult to doubt that Hitler genuinely feared and hated Jews. His whole existence was driven by an obsessive loathing of them (Hart-Davis 14).
As we all know, Beijing, China is the host for Summer Olympics 2008, were a major international multi-sport event from August 8 to August 24, 2008. Even though Olympic Beijing is all dress up, but no one is going because the organizer was struggling to handle an unexpected inside Summer Games venues. The Olympics officials feel disappointed because so many empty seats at nearly every event and the lack of pedestrian traffic throughout the park. To overcome the problems the officials are busing in teams of state-trained cheer squads to help fill the empty seats and improve the atmosphere and encourage residents to apply for access to the heavily secured park.
Abstract: The Special Olympics not only give special athletes athletic skills, they offer more opportunity, encouragement, and dexterity to survive in society than the public school system alone. To understand the differences and similarities between handicapped athletes and their non-handicap peers is the first step in creating a program that best meets the child's needs. There were no community programs that catered to the mentally and physically challenged, so Eunice Kennedy-Shriver created "special games" in her back yard for her handicapped child. Shriver established the Special Olympics in 1968. Today there are more than one million special athletes competing in 140 countries. There are some problems with relying on the public school system to seek a child's full potential in the special education programs. The Special Olympics, however, have found an effective method of preparing children, teens, and adults for society through sport. The diverse selection of sports, their rules, and physical demands, is an advantage when there is a huge range of disabilities. There is a program offered for almost everyone. People who benefit from these games range from the athletes themselves, the officials, coaches, caregivers, parents, to the spectators and on-site first aid staff. Mrs. Kennedy-Shriver said this in regard to special athletes, "through sports, they can realize their potential for growth." Over and over this fantastic organization has demonstrated integrity, good sportsmanship, and goal oriented programs that work!
Introduction Today, the Olympic Games are the world's largest pageant of athletic skill and competitive spirit. They are also displays of nationalism, commerce and politics. Well-known throughout the world the games have been used to promote understanding and friendship among nations, but have also been a hotbed of political disputes and boycotts. The Olympic games started thousands of years ago and lasted over a millennium.. The symbolic power of the Games lived on after their demise, and came to life again as the modern Olympic Games being revived in the last century. Both the modern and Ancient Olympics have close similarities in there purpose and in there problems.
