“The Battle of France is over. I expect the Battle of Britain is about to begin.” –Winston Churchill. Winston Churchill was all too correct when he said this. After the Battle of France ended with a French surrender in June of 1940, the Nazi forces turned their attention to the final resisting country in Europe, Great Britain. The Battle of Britain lasted from July of 1940 to October of 1940. This was nearly a year after the Second World War began and Nazi Germany had already conquered almost all of Europe. Once France was conquered, Hitler waged war on Britain and sent over thousands of German fighters to force Great Britain to surrender. However, Winston Churchill, British Prime Minister at the time, was incredibly stubborn and would not give in to the Nazi regime. The Battle of Britain was a huge turning point in World War II. It gave hope to conquered Europeans and was the first serious setback for the Nazi campaign.
