The Advantages of Homeschooling The reasons home schooling has an advantage over public schools are: children can learn at their own pace, homeschooling allows for a more customized learning experience, and it brings families closer together. One of the reasons is because children can learn at their own pace. First, Children need to feel secure in order to learn and retain information. Children who are welcomed to learn at their own pace have a higher sense of security than that of a student who feels pressured in following a particular curriculum schedule. “Home schooling is intensely personal, closely supervised, intentional, delight-directed, and not based on a one-size-fits-all model.” By having the customization of the curriculum, and having the close supervision during school sessions allows the student to feel the security provided by homeschooling. Thus, allowing the student to retain more information because they’re not worried about other students or teachers. Second, Children are far better off in their own environment where they feel safe and secure. Third, The flexible schedule offered by home education offers children a better chance to be involved in outside activities. Finally, a homeschooling education offers a more comfortable surrounding for practicing religious values. Homeschooling allows for a more customized learning experience. First, not all children learn in the same way. Some children are visual learners; others are good at listening or hands-on activities. Home schooling gives parents the opportunity and freedom to allow their children to learn in a way that is best for them, unlike public or private schools, which teach children based on educational philosophies laid out by school or school dist... ... middle of paper ... ...e was able to do volunteer work during the day for ministries that our church runs. Which I felt was an enriching experience that he was able to have by being homeschooled . He also was much better for our family unit as we were better able to bond and keep the bad behaviors of other children away from our son. Homeschooling is not for everyone but is a rewarding and viable option to educate children. My son graduated Ocean County College with honors and is now attending Monmouth University on scholarships and grants..He was also hired this past September by Apple as a family room specialist. I do not believe had he attended a public school he would have achieved as much as he has to date. I believe that because he was able to learn and grow at his own pace and within his learning style he was able to do much better that if he were confined to a class room everyday.
