The Abigail Hobbs trial was one of many of the Salem Witch Trial. People often had to face the court for a crime they did not do commit. Fortunately enough Abigail Hobbs was one of the people accused who was somewhat educated. Her tone and behavior was calm and collected while facing the people who determined her faith. Some people who were charged with these crimes were uneducated and could not defend themselves. Abigail Hobbs went along with court when she was on trial she agreed with them to hopefully save her life.

I feel as if her tone is very calm due to her situation she was in. Her behavior was as if she had planned for this situation. She was smart enough to buy herself time when asked questions.“Where, in the house, or in the woods? In the woods. In the night or in the day? In the day.” She gave short answers which usually indicates that she is giving herself time to come up with a way to defend herself. Her tone is unusually calm due to a situation that could determine her destiny. Even though this maybe from knowing she didn’t commit the crime it seems unusual that she is this calm. Which was unfair but they got away with it by scarring towns into not being able to trust anyone. Towards the end of these unfair trials they began to accuse educated people, which was a small handful of people. Abigail Hobbs seems to be educated due to her responses she gives. She was lucky she was educated to help her trial and save her life. The unlucky uneducated people who were accused of these crimes would not respond “How long have you been a witch? I cannot tell. But have you been a witch? I cannot tell you. Why do you hurt these folks? I hurt no body.” This is a quote from Mary Black’s trial, you can tell she isn’t highly educated due to lack of responses.
