Thanksgiving Day is a day of family, food, and giving thanks for the blessings in life and yet some people believe Thanksgiving to be a prep day for Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year. The focus of Thanksgiving shifted from family bonding to incessant shopping. This trend of taking away from the hours of Thanksgiving in order to shop is enraging. It steals away from family time for the shoppers and the employees. Employers threaten workers that if they do not work on that certain holiday, they will be fired. I think the main inspiration for the first Macy’s parade in 1924 was actually a combination of both wanting to celebrate the holidays by bringing families together for a great show as well as wanting to increase sales. From what I have read on the parade’s history, Macy’s had just opened the largest store ever built. They wanted to spark interest in holiday shopping and decided the parade would be a great way to provide entertainment for families as well as showcase the displays created by Anthony Frederick Sarg. Although the living conditions of children are getting lot better than when we were kids, the children study more time than we did. The pupils have to get up at earlier than 7 o 'clock to make sure they won’t be late for school. Not only have that, these pupils still had to participate in various after school program, and a lot of variety of training during the weekends. The most pressure is homework. As a summer school teacher, I always can hear kids say that the teacher gave them too much work, had to spend two hours a day to compete the homework, and have no time to play. There is so much to be discovered in our vast world of technology. Scientists and researchers work hard everyday to educate themselves and others on the advances capable of being achieved. There are people learning about new technology, different scientific and medical methods, and most of all medicine everyday. However, there is always a price to pay with hypotheses running their course through experiments, and that is the testing subject. Scientists feel the best choice for such research is to use animals to be tested, and that great achievements in the science world are worth it. Just as these scientists are, testing on innocent animals is completely wrong. Just because they are available for testing, and don’t have any ability to opt out in these experiments, does not mean they are right for the job.

Some people dread Thanksgiving. They hate to see relatives they dislike, they abhor the bloated feeling from eating too much, and they despise all the work that goes into planning such a big event. I am certainly not one of these people, for I adore everything about Thanksgiving. I always enjoy spending time with family, I love to eat all the food I can, and I have no problem preparing for this wonderful holiday. If you’re anything like me or any other high school student you know that stress season is coming. It’s a joyous time where students unite to form study groups and enjoy the last two weeks of the semester before they go off into the boring period of “winter break.” Of course, no winter break is complete without the wonderful problem filled stapled stacks of papers handed to you as you walk out the door the last day. When you get handed that packet you know that those long winter break days that seem to last forever be no more thanks to all your teachers. May the rest of your day be filled with bliss and delight. I propose that giving a thanksgiving basket to a low-income/needy family at an Inspire Development Center would be a great. A gift like that to a family that might not be able to have a special dinner on thanksgiving would highly appreciate the people that worked together to put this great event together. Thanksgiving is a day where as a family; everyone is united, having a special dinner surrounded by loved ones, but for a needy family that may not be the case. Families should be able to enjoy a basket full of food with their whole family and give thanks to the special hands that created them and made it possible for them to have a special dinner on Thanksgiving.
If a teenager failed their driving exam would they still get a driver’s license? No, because if he did he would be a danger to himself and to others around him. It is the same thing with a child who cannot learn the basic building blocks of English, math, and science. This child will not be able to comprehend the advanced concepts learned in the next grade if he cannot even understand the material from the previous grade. Also he would be a hindrance to the class because he would slow his classmates down with his lack of knowledge causing the teacher to have to explain everything to him. The advancement to the next grade without passing the previous grade will not only hurt the child’s self-esteem and basic education foundation, but also cause him to be a nuisance to his classmates.
