Texas Tech University Purpose Statement

I am writing this Statement of Purpose to reinforce my admission to graduate school. My purpose for applying to Texas Tech University is to expand my existing knowledge and to create additional opportunities for myself in the future. I believe that the graduate school will prepare me for a successful and challenging career in Industrial Engineering with specialization in Operation Research and Engineering Management.

My dream to be an expert in Industrial Engineering had not emerged with my early schooling. Defining career goal with future perspective was not easy while receiving the early education in the school of remote area of a country like Nepal. Among the different activities I had to perform during our graduation, case study in Himalayan Bank Limited was very interesting for its team work, challenge and experience. The objective of the study was to understand the existing management system and relate it with our theoretical learning. In the project, our group made questionnaires that suitably encircle the different levels of staff, conducted survey with them especially by convincing the lower level staffs about the survey. Full support from the Deputy General Manager of the Bank and our respective subject teacher made the task more ease and effective. With appropriate support, sufficient encouragement and perfect guidance accomplishing the objective was not difficult for six different and enthusiastic minds. The result of the study was highly appreciated by the faculties of the department and management of the Bank. I got proficiency with these tools in final year project entitled ‘Study of Existing Commercial Microbus for its Sustainability in Kathmandu Valley’. In the project, we did sorting and filtering data from crude data, regression analysis, cumulative distribution curve analysis, mathematical modeling and simulation of output.

After successful completion of graduate degree in Engineering, I joined Kantipur Engineering College as a lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. I am still a Full-Time lecturer of the college. My association with Kantipur Engineering has become another milestone of my career.
