How big is the threat of contemporary terrorism and where does it come from?
“Insurgents can and do use terrorism, but insurgents are but one type of violent non-state actor who may choose to use terrorism.”
(James J. F. Forest, 2007)
That is how James J. F. Forest differentiates between the notoriety and the revolutionary particles of an outcast uprising theory. A conflict of ideas that still fail to recognize the true face of a criminal from a martyr’s is where the failure of counteracting against such a prudent concern of the 21st century prevails. It is clearly visible that the individual joining the path of so-called revolutionary and noble outcome has to pass through many a hurdle and obstacles. Use of apprehensive force and forms of enticement to resent the mass, mostly the youth under selected political systems, to join the so-called local messiahs have been administered by developed countries. But, these efforts have only been built in vain. The global up scale of insurgencies and terrorism have not seen any decrease from the year 2001 when a single act of the militant group Al Qaeda laid siege on the single most powerful economy of the world. The crisis though seems isolated under the tents of a few religious issues, lies far deeper than what the subdued superficial crust suggests.
A detailed analysis of the reports made by the spearhead country in countering terrorism, United States of America, cries the need for specificity even after 13 long years of battle against an eminent enemy. Vague acronyms like “The global war on terrorism” at times and “Persistent conflict” at others has been used by US political leaders (R. M. Cassidy, 2008).
