Technology Should Not Be Used Among Children

How many kids do you see crying because they want to use a parent’s phone or the tablet? Children are becoming more and more attached to electronics and refuse to interact with others. Children spend more time playing video games than going outside or spending time with other people. This can cause children a lack of communication skills. The problem now is children are using technology more, they are not focusing on anything else but their phones, tablets, computers, etc. Technology should not be used among children because it is affecting their everyday life in the way they socialize, learn, how it causes them to be depressed, and their behavior.

Getting information is simple but it doesn’t teach the younger generation anything. They start to lose track of the skills and purposes when using technology. “Without such skill there is a possibility the child becomes lost, gets off track, or gathers unreliable information,” (“How tech affects kids”, par 2). However, using technology to much can be a distraction to what is important, you end up learning things that are not important. Using technology to much can cause you to gather unnecessary information that just won’t come to any use. Technology doesn’t always need to be used for academic purposes, if it can be avoided it’s best. The more time you spend using technology the deeper you go into depression. “…30 percent of the 1500 kids in the study used the internet for three or more hours a day and were diagnosed with depression,” (French par.20). For instance, spending hours using technology can start to lead to causes of depression. The way kids used to go outside and play because now they go inside and play video games. Changes in behavior can occur in a child when technology is used to much. “Certain behavior, moods or thoughts that come from sedentary activity are correlated with depression,” (French pa19). Kids are influenced by what they see on the internet such as drug use, and violent videos, etc. “…how much social media use affects adolescents risk behaviors like smoking, drinking, and doing drugs,” (Pellissier, par 10). To further explain, Children copy everything they see which a good thing isn’t always. By observing what others do kids think its ok to do so they follow. Kids are like sponges they learn as they watch and act like what they see. “Then there are things like violent video games, which can desensitize young children to violence and could lead to aggressive behavior,” (Roman, par 7). Aggression in child could be because of they are playing. Technology affects their actions by just watching and taking in all that information. Kids post everything from being at parties to pictures that should never be posted. “Exposure to risky online content had a direct impact on adolescences risk behaviors,” (Pellissier, par10). To explain, A teenager’s behavior can be caused by what they can be watching which is not always good.
