In 1914, Murasaki Shikibu's extended prose The Tale Of Genji was published and was considered the world's first literary work. This fantastic literary work addresses a topic that has been discussed since the earliest times until today, love. This feeling is an inexhaustible theme because of the multitude of feelings included in one single concept. It seems that love is simple but in reality, it has many facets. This love story takes place in times when there were various prejudices about who should be the other half of a noble person. However, love is available to anyone, and it does not matter if a person is rich or poor because love is a pure feeling that cannot be influenced by the material world. For the most part, even if is going up this is an easy climb because a person obtains the feeling of happiness through small things that are available to anyone. For example, love is available to anyone and by giving or receiving an individual feels unexplainable happiness. However, even if an individual achieves happiness through small things, for some individuals, the emotional rollercoaster is influenced by specific contexts which can affect the reach of a climax where one finds happiness. One of these contexts is the social position that one of the partners may have. For example, an individual with a high social position must face the social pressure that tries to deflect its way by placing obstacles in the way toward happiness. Consequently, a person seeking happiness removes these obstacles and makes choices that are dictated by his subconscious opposing all prejudices. The author reveals, "In a certain reign there was a lady not of the first rank whom emperor loved more than any other" (Shikibu, 148). Therefore, an individual's desire for happiness is more potent than societal rules that are meant to guide his life. Although every love story is an emotional rollercoaster with similar emotions, these feelings are not easy to understand by those who are not directly involved. For example, happiness originates from different sources for every person and as a result is perceived uniquely. Also, every person is aware of how strong the desire for happiness is in is perception and what is willing to do to obtain it. Similarly, the pain is felt and lived differently by every person, and the depth of that pain cannot be expressed in fixed parameters even if it originates from a common cause. Moreover, last but not least restlessness is a feeling that takes over any person who tries to abandon an emotional rollercoaster that has come to an end. All these feelings cannot be described in the same manner for everyone because every individual has a unique perception that cannot be duplicated.
