A lot attention has been given to the presence of technology and the information they tend to carry. Technology is used in people’s daily lives in the form of televisions, cell phones, GPS, and other various forms. Children in the current generation are familiarized with the technologies provided yet outdated textbooks and old-fashioned pens and paper are what they learn off of. Why don’t schools teach students the curriculum while including up to date technologies? There are many notable factors schools should consider before including certain technologies into the school curriculum.
One factor a school should consider before including technologies into the curriculum is interaction. Recently, the teachers are allowing students to post assignments via the internet. Kids are practicing foreign languages in electronic forms in replacement of pens and papers. According to source B, “Teaching Tools” by Kevin Delaney, using the tactic allows educators “to interact with students, parents and each other in ways they never have before.” This makes students more interactive towards their learning assignment and their teachers as well. Children might feel the need to go to the internet as their first source instead of their own brain. This can result in heavy dependence of technology in education. As said in source C by Esther Dyson, “It may seriously mess up children’s informational metabolism - their ability to process information for themselves.” In his view, he believes students, instead of processing information themselves, will have technology process information for them. With this tactic, the result will likely turn out to have student getting first-hand information from the internet and compiling them into an essay rather than learning and writing their
