Super Bowl Trade Rumors: Will the Eagles Really Trade Him?

It does not take a genius to figure out Philadelphia has a problem. Carson Wentz found himself as the pride of the town this year. Considering his 33 touchdowns, 253.5 yards/game, and 11-2 record as the starter before he tore his ACL, seeing his jersey worn all around the state of Pennsylvania came as no surprise.

After his injury, however, many thought the Eagles were done. While Philideplhia believed in the new guy on the block, Nick Foles, even Vegas predicted the Eagles, the number one seed in the NFC, to lose their first playoff game to the six seed, the Atlanta Falcons.

With 352 yards and 3 touchdowns, giving him a 141.4 QB rating, the Eagles stomped the Vikings, shooting his worth up in the ole NFL stock market.

Now the Eagles are faced with a choice. Which quarterback do they keep? After Foles’ success in the playoffs, he will certainly be a hot commodity for teams with a quarterback problem (cough, Cleveland). But, especially if Foles leads the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory, could they really trade away their new golden boy?

Foles is older, having played six seasons in the league and, up until moments before Wentz tore his ACL, was thought to be on the decline. But if we are taking Brady’s age by any standard, Foles should have a number of great years ahead of him if he can get the right pieces around him.

My philosophy, despite Foles’ success, is to go with who got you there. As we saw with the 2014 Ohio State Buckeyes, J.T. Barrett was the guy all season until he broke his ankle in their final game against Michigan. Backup quarterbacj (technically third string after the Buckeyes lost Braxton Miller at the beginning of the season), Cardale Jones then went on to win the Buckeyes a national championship. But who did Urban Meyer put in the pocket in 2015? The guy that got them there, J.T.
