Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen. Meeting this evening as a group Green Bay Packer and NFL fans we recall many unforgettable moments in Packer history. From big hits to miraculous passes, we will have in the back of our minds forever. Every Sunday we are glued to the television watching the Packers. Win or lose our fans have always been there to support the team. It is a privilege to have with us a man who thrilled many spectators. Win or lose he was always there to boost the fans and players moral, Brett Favre. Brett Favre grew up idolizing a pair of Southern quarterbacks, the Saints' Archie Manning and the Cowboys' Staubach. He grew up in Kiln, Mississippi and went to high school in there. His high school, Hancock North Central, honored him this past May by re-naming the field, 'Brett Favre Field,' and unveiling a life-sized statue of the quarterback at the stadium's entrance. The school previously had retired his jersey, Number 10, in 1993. He stayed in the south to go to college where he went to Southern Miss. He became the starter at Southern Miss in his third game of his freshman season. Favre majored in special education. He led his Southern Mississippi team to 29 victories, including two bowl victories, during his four varsity seasons, 1987-90, and climaxed his collegiate career by earning a MVP award in the East-West Shrine game featuring the nation's best seniors. Favre set school records for passing yards (8,193), pass attempts (1,234), completions (656), completion percentage (53.2), touchdowns (55), and with only 35 interceptions. His production included five 300-yard passing games and five 3-TD performances, while his 7,695 regular-season passing yards ranked him among the top 30 of all-time NCAA passers. His 1.57 interception ratio in 1988 was the lowest among the 50 top-ranked passers in the nation, and his 2.9 interception rate for his four-year career also ranks as one of the best in NCAA history. Also he was the MVP of the All-American Bowl at the conclusion of his senior year. All those records and stats and that was only in college!!! With the thirty-third pick in the 1991 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons choose Brett Favre. A little less than a year later, Atlanta traded Favre to Green Bay for a first round draft choice. Now in his 13th season in the NFL. Behind Favre, Green Bay has had nine playoff appearances including five division titles.
Incorporating religion by adding “I believe in god, and i believe in human decency. But I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour-- his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear-- is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted in the field of battle”. Using religion and his emotion to show how important it is when men work hard to win. With this type of analysis the players felt a little more motivated after hearing how Vince said something real that is true. Vince also implies “I have finished twice in my time at Green Bay”. Vince knows a lot about winning but he’s showing that he knew what it takes to do both but would rather want to win.
In 1972, he had a Passer Rating of 157.5 in a game. A rare perfect rating would be 158.3. In 1973, he had an amazing season where he brought the Broncos to their first ever winning season. That season he earned a First Team All-AFC, led the AFC in touchdown passes, and earned the Broncos offensive MVP. In 1974, he led the NFL in yards per pass attempt with 8.1 yards. In 1975, he played his final season and retired. He became the Broncos quarterback coach for the 1976 season, then retired from that right after. In 1977, the Broncos went to their first super bowl, the year after Charley Johnson retired. He ranks 7th in most touchdowns by a Broncos quarterback, and 9th in most yards. In 1986, Charley Johnson was inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame.

In 1992 he was drafted to the Green Bay Packers. His first year into the Packers he threw
There is no question that Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time. He holds the record for practically every single category for quarterbacks in the NFL. Manning holds the record for most career passing yards at 71,940, most career wins as a quarterback with 200, most career passing TDs with 539, most career 4,000-yard seasons with 14 and the list goes on and on. If so-called experts determine the greatest quarterback of all-time based on statistics alone, then Manning is the runaway winner.
Many think Tom Brady is a great quarterback. He has great statistics and has won many Super Bowls.
Every person ever associated with football knows how the game is played. They know every rule, play, stat, and anything else that can be recorded. There was a certain one of these people, though, that stood out from the rest. This was a man by the name of Vince Lombardi. Most people generally know who Vince Lombardi was. They know him as the former, and most famous, coach of the Green Bay Packers back in the late fifties and early sixties. They also recognize him as the man the trophy awarded to the Super Bowl winner, the Lombardi Trophy, is named after. This is all common knowledge in the football world. Do any of these people know who Vince really was? Do they know what he did to the game of football? Do they know that he changed the game, forever? Not many can actually say they know what Vince Lombardi did to the game of football that left a lasting impression. There can be arguments made of other coaches that have made great lasting impressions in football. Some names including: Bud Grant, Mike Ditka, and Don Shula. If you look more in depth at this though, they haven’t left that big of a lasting impression of the game. None of them really changed the way the game of football is played. None of them did like Vince Lombardi. He was the first to truly take risks to change the game of football. Through hard work, dedication, and an understanding of the game, Vince Lombardi was truly the most influential person in footballs history.
“I'm a pretty good winner. I'm a terrible loser, and I rub it in pretty good when I win”-Tom Brady (brainyquote.com). Tom Brady is the New England Patriots starting quarterback, and without a doubt he is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. In fact without him the Patriots would have never even went to a Super Bowl. Now that the Patriots have the legendary Tom Brady on their team they went to six Super Bowls and even won four. However Tom Brady wasn't always as good as he is now he started from the bottom like everyone else.
The Broadcast world has seen many iconic figures come into the spectrum. Baseball had Bob Costas, Basketball has had many former players come and go into the roles of key broadcaster but none of them could compare to this one man who would bring his natural talents of his voice and ability to communicate what was truly going on in a game like John Madden. John Madden had the background as a former player and coach that would give him an outlook on the game of football that no one has ever had. John was a incredibly easy person to listen to because he did not sound like some of the announcers of the time who only went by the books on how broadcasting was suppose to be presented. John Madden tested the limits of broadcasting to bring a view of the game that no one has ever presented to the NFL fans.
In 1933 Vince accepted a football scholarship Fordham University. He was an aggressive player on the field; he played the tackle position on defense and was part of the offensive line. His senior year at Fordham looked to be impressive from the start of the season, the had high hopes of going to the Rose bowl but the dreams were destroyed when they lost the final game of the season to New York University. The game was a close hard battle between the two teams and end with a score of 7-6. Lombardi learned that game to never underestimate your opponent (3 Lombardi Life Events). Fordham finished that season 5-1-2 that season. Be...

Over the course of the 1921 and 22 seasons, the Packers underwent a transformation where they replaced most of their local talent with players from big-time colleges or other pro teams. As a result, they were highly competitive on the field from the beginning and, in turn, able to establish a firm foothold within the league. “In 1927, when the NFL decided to cut its franchises almost in half and eliminate many of its smaller cities, Green Bay survived ,Then before the 1929 season, They hit the jackpot.”While the Packers were in the process of winning the 1931 championship, they also were blindsided by what could have been a Disastrous event. “In their second game against the Brooklyn Dodgers, a local fan, Willard J. Bent, injured his back when a section of bleachers at city stadium collapsed, and he fell nearly 10 feet to the ground”,he sued them for 5,000 dollars .On April 3, 1956, voters approved a referendum to fund the construction of the stadium. “It was dedicated on Sept. 29, 1957, and called new City Stadium until it was renamed Lambeau Field in 1965.””On Blackbourn’s watch, the Packers also drafted Forrest Gregg, Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Jim Taylor and Ray Nitschke, all future Pro Football Hall of Famers.”McLean lasted one season. He submitted his resignation under fire on Dec. 17, 1958, following a 1-10-1 finish, the worst in Packers
The vikings were furious with defensive linemen Bobby McCray and Remi Ayodele for knocking Favre to the ground with a high-low hit. While coming off a block, Bobby mccray fell forwards and landed while hitting favre below the knees, which put him out of the game momentarily with an ankle injury. Later, Vikings head coach Brad Childress commented that there were more than 10 other instances where a saints player tried to knock favre out of the game. Mike Pereira, NFL vice president of officiating, said at least one of those hits should have been called as a personal foul. Zygi Wilf, Vikings owner, complained several times to the league about his concern for favre, but no action was taken at the time. Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, later implied that many hits on Arizona Cardinals Quarterback Kurt Warner were severe enough to have been called
Tim Tebow was called a “miracle baby” because his parents were told he had to be aborted for his mom to live. Through that time his family prayed to God for a miracle. God protected Tim and on August 14, 1987 he was born. He was raised in a Christian home in the Philippines, where his parents told him “God has a special plan for your life” (Tebow). When Tim was three years old his family moved back to the United States. Tim homeschooled up until high school, but played football for Nease High School in Ponte Vendra. He attended college at the University of Florida from 2006-2009. He
What truly is amazing is the person Tim Tebow represents off the field. He is a devout Christian who works to spread his religion and give hope to those in need. Tebow has been involved with controversy that started in his days in high school, due to a law in Florida that allowed him to pick his high school. Tebow is possibly the only player to be under national scrutiny from his high school playing days through his career in the NFL both on and off the field. Most of this controversy is because of his faith and how he displayed it on field. The best way to describe him is to say that he is a polarizing person and player in the sense that people either love or hate him. Tim Tebow is, indeed, a great person and role model on the playing field as well as off of it.
