philosophy of anarchism. Overseas, he also studies in different institutes to learn more about the arts. He also lived through the Franco-Prussian War of 1870, but his paintings were destroyed in the war. He moved from place to place to find inspiration for his painting around Paris. After the Franco-Prussian War, Pissarro was influenced by his surroundings and created the Impressionist movement. Impressionism was a movement in the 1870s. Some of the well-known members of this movement are Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, and Camille Pissarro himself. They were all independent artists, although they will work in contemporaries sometimes. In the Impressionist group, Pissarro wanted to concentrate on the life of the people in his painting. Pissarro, along with Gustave Caillebotte also painted the renovated city after drawing the old city. Pissarro was also the oldest of the group, and he went to all eight shows to exhibit his work that he had created. Camille Pissarro has spent many years painting in the French countryside and he wanted to do something new. He then returned back to Paris in 1897 and stayed at the Grande Hotel de Russie in the Montmartre section of Paris for 3 months from February to April. During his stay, he painted many paintings of the views looking out his window from his hotel room. He painted many different versions of Montmartre Boulevard capturing different times of the day and different seasons of the year. One of the well-known painting is the Boulevard Montmartre on a Winter Morning. This painting is painted from his hotel room and it is painted from a distance of the view of the Boulevard from him looking down from his hotel window. The reason he painted this is to capture the how modern Paris is like where the streets are full of light and lively especially grand Boulevard Montmartre. In this painting, you can see how grand and magnificent of the boulevard looks, and you can see whole length and depth the boulevard, and the scene of the lively boulevard where it is full of people, cars and carriages. Camille Pissarro painted 14 different versions of Boulevard Montmartre. A few versions of the painting are as follows Boulevard Montmartre: Afternoon Sunlight 1897, Boulevard Montmartre: Morning Cloudy Weather, 1897, Boulevard Montmartre: Foggy Morning, Boulevard Montmartre: Mardi-Gras, Boulevard Montmartre: Morning Gray Weather, Boulevard Montmartre: Morning Sunlight and Mist, Boulevard Montmartre: Spring, Boulevard Montmartre: Spring Rain, Boulevard Montmartre: Sunset, and Boulevard Montmartre: Night Effect. He tried to create what is outside his window at many different times of days, the different type of seasons and different type of arts. He chose the same views from the same hotel to paint the 14 paintings. In his later years, at the end of 1898, he was unable to paint outdoor due to bad eye infection. Many of his paintings were painted indoor from his view while looking out the window. At the end of 1898, he rented an apartment in Paris. His apartment has a great view of the city and one of the view is the Tuileries Garden. He painted many landscapes from the views of his apartment and six of the paintings were on the Tuileries Garden. He tried to create and capture the changes due different times of the day and seasons of the year. Two of the famous paintings are The Garden of the Tuileries on a Winter Afternoon and The Garden of the Tuileries on a Spring Morning. Both of these paintings are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Camille Pissarro’s painting style, techniques, and theories have a big influence on many of his friends and fellow impressionists.
