I have applied to the MUJCESOM because West Virginia is my home and I have strong family ties to the state. My father received his PhD from a West Virginian state school and has been an educator at different universities in the state for more than 40 years. Additionally, I have a desire to continue expanding my knowledge by working on research projects and I know that MU has taken great strides in expanding their research programs and facilities. Furthermore, I feel that the small class sizes at the MUJCESOM would be greatly beneficial in that it would allow me to have a more personalized experience in medical school. The main component I look for in college is their commitment to further my studies. I feel this college will provide an ingenious culture within the science field, therefore rendering myself with the building blocks necessary to later pursue the medical field. Not only does UNCW devote itself towards their student’s undergraduate years, but also by providing Professional pathways such as Pre-Medicine, students such as myself can go into Professional schools better prepared. Only two months ago, I moved into room 426 of Trinity Hall and began my journey at Azusa Pacific University. I still remember how nervous and excited I felt when I arrived. Everyone was incredibly kind and overjoyed to have the freshmen move in. Beneath all the exhilaration, I had three big fears that felt like heavy weight on my chest. Because I did not grow up from a Christian family, I feared that I would not fit in with everyone else. I was also intimidated by how extroverted everyone was. I was introverted, so it required extra effort for me to make new friends. Another one of my fears was nursing school since the nursing program is known for its heavy load of work and commitment. After years of being a marine corps officer, he made the choice that he wanted to return to college so he could learn more and pursue a new career, because he wanted to try something new; and he had also found a new hobby that he enjoyed learning about. He wanted to pursue a new career that was in the medical field; because while he was serving in the marines he had found a passion for medical. He was so fascinated with everything in the field of medical and knew that is what he wanted to test the new career to see if he liked it. So, he applied to multiple different medical schools; such as University of California and more. But that was the university that he wanted to attend. However, all the colleges he applied to rejected his admission. Some of the universities claimed they refused his acceptance because he was “too old,” when in reality he was only in his thirties, so their argument was invalid and unconvincing. Because all the medical schools rejected him, he thought he’d like to reapply to the University of California, Davis Medical School a year later; to see if they would reconsider their opinion. Yet again, they had rejected his admission for a second time. After the second rejection, he was a little bit concerned
The primary reason I am applying to Molloy College is my desire to earn the education and qualifications in order to provide more involved care for my patients at work. I have known for some time that I have always wanted to be a nurse. Therefore, in April 2007 I enrolled in a program to become a certified nurse’s aide and earned my New York state certification in July 2007. I began working immediately at a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in November 2007; I also began working in a hospital starting April 2015. Being employed at both facilities is what led me to fall in love with a career in nursing, all while allowing me to gain a wonderful amount of experience caring for a diverse population as well as working with a diverse population of health care professionals.

Throughout the years as I've grown, I've noticed that I have a passion for children and a passion for their health. I believe I have the academic skills to be able to start my journey on becoming a pediatric nurse. In junior year of high school I took "Medical Office Technology" which was my favorite class I have ever taken in high school. It teached me medical terminology and informed me on types of medicine. This year as a senior I am taking "Child Development" and I am enjoying this course. This course teaches me about children and their development from the time they are born until they are 18 years old. I believe these two courses have taught me alot more about medicine and children. On the interview day I had with Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University (LKSOM), I had the pleasure of speaking with a student who received a dual degree in MD and MA in Urban Bioethics. I saw the brochure and thought it was very interesting, and he was able to expound about his opinion of the program and elaborating on his project involving the local community. I was interested in the program from the information but was not able to commit to applying due to the unknown workload of the school curriculum. As time, went on I was fortunate to attend the PREP program where I heard more about the degree from Nora Jones, and was able to speak to a current M2 about his experience. When first arriving at the museum it was an old styled, rustic, building that was not very modern, which I think fits into the theme of the museum. The outside of the building had history, similar to how the inside of museum is filled with a history. There was also an impressive statue of former president Theodore Roosevelt. I thought it was an interesting display, but Theodore Roosevelt was an advocate for the preservation of national parks and the conservation of animals, moreover, I thought it was a great tribute to him. I think the outside of the museum shows how rich the history of the world is and there is so much to learn. The past has been polished for the people of the present to understand and admire. Overall, I felt every exhibit was easy to understand and not intimidating; subsequently, it was easy for children and adults to look at.
