Purpose
My speech is aimed at informing my audience about the drastic effects sugar has on our health and lives, hence I’ll provide a motivation to try to reduce its consumption, and curb sugar addiction.
Introduction
I know I lot of you have eaten food today, and I assume you have eaten a lot of sugar. We over consume sugar on daily basis, finding it in almost all of the products, not knowing that they contain sugar or complex ones like starch. Cold beverages, Pepsi, cola, ice tea, chocolate, white bread and white table sugar are examples on what we often consume. Nevertheless, it’s not this sugar which the body needs, since it’s a refined sugar that has no proteins, no vitamins, no nutrients and minerals from the original plant. Refined sugar is a synthetic chemical byproduct that acts as sweeteners and addictive drugs. It is s foreign chemical, and the body tries to fight it, but we are tempted by the sweet taste and force our body to accept it, triggering addiction. Furthermore, women use vast amounts of beauty products in an attempt to reverse time not knowing that if they have a sweet tooth, the creams and moisturizers are a total waste of their money. A leading Dermatologist, Dr. Patricia Fares observed that sugar consumption led to worse skin wrinkles than ageing or sun exposure.
