Now this excuse may not fully stem from the misconception that girls wear makeup for boys but the perpetrator is fully aware that the misconception has some sort of truth and knows that a part of society believes it. They use it to their advantage to blame the victim rather taking responsibility for their actions. In many cases, boys are able to escape punishment because the jury would then blame the victim too. If society believed that women could wear makeup and dress for their own amusement, maybe victim blaming would not be as relevant as it is today.

In an interview with youtube star Gabriel Zamora, he takes pride in saying that the makeup culture is about “every guy that has wanted to feel more confident in their appearance and had a revolutionary thought that makeup isn’t just for women” (Bramley). Boys can be insecure too and want to boost their confidence a bit more with concealer and contouring or they may want to look like a picasso painting without being judged. With makeup reaching both genders, makeup should not be considered gender specific anymore, it should be gender neutral allowing all genders to visually express their personality through their artistic creativity. People of older ages may disagree with this concept because they are still stuck on the idea that makeup is for women and if a man wears makeup he is automatically gay. Yet they do not bat an eye when they see Johnny Depp wearing black smudged eyeliner on the red carpet. Yet there are the contradicting misconceptions that draw people away. The only reason why this community has a bit of a bad reputation is because of the minor few people the validate those misconceptions. There are also people within the community who believe in the misconceptions themselves and place themselves on a higher pedestal. This community, however, is not its’ weakest link. As a whole, the people of this community are accepting, beautiful, and confident people, not insecure or self-absorbed, or looking for someone’s attention. They do their makeup to please themselves with a poppin’ highlight and false lashes. Or they they might only go for a light CC cream they still feel beautiful. Society makes it seem like makeup should be worn because all of the women on magazines have flawless complexions and look “perfect”, but in reality, that is photoshop and they have the same issues with their natural faces as everyone else. The makeup industry is evolving and the majority of people wearing makeup now do so because it really has turned into an art and brands have been coming out with new makeup to keep up with the demand for the new best product. Even on the runway, natural makeup has been embraced, and at one point when cake face was the trendy style, now models are wearing less makeup to show their natural skin and embrace their natural complexions.
