Status reporting allows management to spend only a few seconds to flying on project to determine what sort of progress is made. Outstanding status report creates clarity from confusion. As the manager of a project is to take a agitating, disordered cloud of data and cleanse it down into its most basic elements and then present them so that hundreds of hours of work can be understood in seconds. Status report helps the stakeholders and other employees to check the status of the project online. It also clearly describes any changes made to the project on the day to day basis. It contents the information about the project, status date of the project and also individuals working on the issues and defects in the present project. Status reports are often difficult to communicate because some people like to have all the details while some prefer just the high level information. As a project manager, explain the type of communication you would use to provide status information to the project team members, the project sponsor, and the project stakeholders. Would it be the same or different? ANS: Communication is part of the project work. There are many kinds of communication available like phone, e-mail, regular mail, Intranet, face to face, Internet, conference calls, video conferences, town hall meetings etc. Communication schedule will be driven by the needs of the project sponsor, stakeholders and team members with availability of the information to be communicated. Status review meetings with project teams must be conducted more often to avoid the project going off the rails. If the project is on track then weekly status review meetings are sufficient.
