Waking up early in the mornings to feed your animals, fitting them for the show, waiting for your chance to show off how great your animal is no matter what the judge says, and then shaking the hand of the judge when they select your animal for Grand/Reserve Champion. This may be short lived for some, but people like me who show at fairs and then go on to the State Fair learned this is a daunting task to make sure your animals are happy, and are also show ready before you walk into the arena. Imagine going around in a dizzy circle, laughing and crying at the same time because you’re dropped from over 20 feet in the air, because truth be told, what’s a fair without rides? While pigging out on fair foods and winning small prizes are fun, the fair has so much more to offer and here are a few attractions you don’t want to miss.
At some point every single one of us was once an innocent child without a care in the world. The only thing that mattered was to make sure we had fun. There are many different things children do to have fun. Some children love to go outside and get dirty, others prefer to stay indoors and play pretend. Some girls love to play tea time or pretend to be princess. In some cases those pretend fantasies become true. Little girls get the chance to actually become a small little princess for a day. The only place that allows little girls to become a princess is at a child beauty pageant. Unfortunately throughout the years these pageants for little girls have been criticized and rejected by other people. There are many articles that discuss the reasons why child beauty pageants are rejected but there are also some that discuss the importance of them.

The “White City” was a vast collection of architecture and arts that were put on display in the year 1893. The Chicago World Fair, also called the “White City”, was a major event in American history that impacted America’s culture, economic, and industry. The Chicago World Fair was held to honor Columbus’ discovery of the New World. The real reason why it was made was to proudly have back their wealth and power. Larson said, “the tower not only assured the eternal fame of its designer, Alexandre Gustave Eiffel but also offered graphic proof that France had edged out the United States for dominance in the realm of iron and steel…”(15). Although not much information is not given on the social responsibilities of Cedar Fair L.P. it is acceptable to interpret and understand what their social responsibilities are as a company. It is a social responsibility of Cedar Fair L.P. to voluntarily eliminate hazards. Some examples are making sure rides are secure and safe to ride, that includes when weather is not cooperating, and installing security fences to contain guests for their own safety. Food safety is another social responsibility for eliminating hazards, many people have allergies and it is necessary for each park to label and clearly state what’s included in the recipe, what the food was cooked in and where the ingredients came from. It is also extremely important to follow OSHA’s requirements for proper food handling, storing and cooking methods.
On the 13th to the 14th of May this year, the Kasseler Garten Kultur festival took place in the city of Kassel. It was a brand new festival to celebrate Spring in eight different parks across the city. Since the second day of the festival was on Mother’s Day in Germany, many people attended and enjoyed the plethora of activities for them to enjoy. This festival is one which is likely to continue next year and possibly for some years after, since therre was a large attendance. Now the ham is done by almost all kids in either the FFA, or 4-H organizations. It is viewed as a very easy way to make a large sum of money by only doing minor work

Every year there is an annual rodeo for just specific people that are sponsored. Dodge City has hosted this event for two years now at the Expo Center. The IFCA stands for International Feedlot Cowboy Association and takes place during the summer between 25-27th of June. This rodeo is special to my family because it's the time where we make major plans for everyone to have fun. My dad is part of the team roping division in which he has gotten several awards before. This is a time where people from all over Texas, Colorado, and Nebraska come to compete. You meet new people and have an experience by the end of the day.
“When people arrived in the morning on the 17th there was a display of horses, cattle and farm products” (Drury 807). “The first Montgomery County Agricultural Fair was held in Dayton at Swaynie’s Hotel on East First Street October 17th and 18th, 1839” (Drury 807). 1853, the state fair was held on Washington Street, the same year the county fair was held there (Drury 807) then in 1874, “the Southern Ohio Fair Association began having fairs on the Montgomery County Fairgrounds for fifteen years” (Drury 808). This set the stepping stone for many fairs in the years in counting. When individuals see the Montgomery County Fairgrounds today, it is seen as just being a place where random fairs or talent shows are held at. Not knowing its history, one could be right. Much has changed on the Montgomery County Fairgrounds; from its architecture to the people that now visit it.
Grand champion! I was riding Fancy, a paint horse, at the Dallas County Fair in the Horsemanship class. In this class, I had to complete a pattern and it was judged on how well each horse and rider completed the pattern. The judge felt that Fancy and I performed best and awarded me with a big purple ribbon and a trophy with a horse on top. At the end of the fair, all of the grand champions were announced before the races. That was the final reward for successfully showing a horse in competitions.
After reading the poem entitled “Youth”, I felt that James Wright was not only describing the life of his father but also the lives of the many other factory workers in the Ohio Valley. Many of these workers had either dropped out of school or went straight to the factories after high school, never really getting a chance to enjoy their lives as young `````adults. I think that has something to do with the title of this poem. It’s clear that Wright knew his father and the other men were not satisfied with their jobs and just chose not to speak about it. These factory workers slaved away and then came home “quiet as the evening” probably because they were content to just be relaxing at home with their families. They knew that this was their way of life and they had to do it, even if they had big dreams to someday get away. I think that Wright was also trying to make a point that these men who worked so hard every day were not valued as much as they should have been. These men did not have the education to get a higher paying job but they did have the proper skills and knowledge to work in the factories. I like that James Wright mentioned Sherwood Anderson in this poem as I enjoy his work. Anderson left his Ohio hometown for Chicago to pursuit bigger and better things because he knew if he stayed in the area, he would be unhappy. However, it is a little ironic that Anderson one day just got up and left in the middle of writing and was said to have a mental breakdown.
When I first purchased my horse it was my goal to be able to compete under the lights and banners and in the arenas that make up the World Show. I know that the competition is stiff and that every competitor wants the same thing, to take home the World Champion title. Every time I receive my new APHA journal I flip through the pages in awe of all of the horses and riders that compete at this level each year setting my sights on obtaining that goal myself. In the 2012 issues I read of a new opportunity, the world games. I knew as soon as I had read about the opportunity I would be applying for the 2014 games for my last year as a youth. I am very passionate about the American Paint Horse and love to share my experiences with this animal. It would be an honor to be able to represent this sport at this prestigious of a level.
All around the world, zoos and circuses are merely entertaining places to visit animals doing what they would in the wild or performing mind blowing tricks. Although zoos are said to be a learning environment and circuses just a harmless show, these environments are some of the most threatening to wild animals. What these people do not see are the horrors that happen behind the curtains or behind closed doors. These people do not witness the constant brutality or the constant neglect that animals in zoos and circuses experience almost every day. *Due to abusive environments and lack of resources critical to their development, wild animals should not be used for entertainment purposes.
