I believe aging as increasing power and status. We go through many different stages in life; including getting old. One of the first stages we go through is infancy. During infancy we develop a sense of trust when those who care for us give reliability, care, and affection. If there is a lack of these things it will lead to mistrust. During infancy a child develops bonds that can last a lifetime. Building these connections allows the child the opportunity to develop inner resources so that they will have self-esteem, and the ability to relate positively with others. The second stage would be considered early childhood. They learn to develop a sense of self and personal identity. Success to adolescent teens is when you stay true to yourself, while failure can lead to confusion and a lack of self-identity. Young adulthood is next; it includes a need to form intimate, loving relationships with other people. This is when relationships start to take place and being successful leads to strong relationships. If they fail at this the results tend to bring out the feelings of loneliness and isolation. Middle adulthood is Adults. They develop the need to create or nurture things. During this stage having children or creating a positive change that benefits other people is important to them. A feeling of usefulness and accomplishment is what is looked for, while the feeling of failure results in shallow involvement in their world. Now lastly would be the elder stage. In the elder stage of life people look back on their life and feel a sense of fulfillment. This stage leads to feelings of wisdom and strength. Increasing physical activity is practical for improving both health and quality of life of older adults. Providing a social and behavioral intervention can improve several habits such as eating and their physical levels. I would like to see programs that allow all elder Americans the same resources, and education to improve their health and wellness to live a long happy life. This means educating all those who work with our elderly. We need to recognize the unique needs of older adults. So that we can be up to date on programs and resources available for those who may need the extra help to live a long happy healthy
