The Speakers Club brings professionals and practitioners that are involved in the Accounting and Finance environment. These experienced individuals discuss their industries, business, and careers. The speakers include recruiters and alumni that are there to share their experience in the field and offer advice to students so that they can excel in the workplace. Maria Cokotis also host three lab classes that provide enormous value in terms of how to prepare for interviews and researching companies. The Speakers Club offered students an opportunity to learn about different industries and different career paths that students can explore. Maria Cokotis hosted three lab days that provide all students with the Speaker's Club an insight about preparing and researching companies for interviews. Learning to use databases in the lab has been a great help in finding information about any company. For example, the LexisNexis database would have been a database that I would not have gone to find information about a company. It offers a great deal of information about any company from their description of the company, address, and even their financial statements. This can provide enormous benefits to Accounting and Finance students that can use the financial statements, balance sheets, and income statement to offer new ideas for improving the company. The last lab that I participated in Maria went over the benefits of joining an accounting or financial professional associations or organizations. I thought it was a great idea and will be looking into join a financial organization over winter break when I have time to look for one that offers a lot of insight in the financial world. We had top four firms such as KPMG and PWC, we had small accounting firms such as Wolf and Company, we also were able to get insight on a portfolio manager Wyatt Hogan as well as Richard Baker from Income Works. All of these great companies and people have shared their valuable experience that I can use to shape the outcome of my career. I have learned researching skills using databases for companies, I have learned a lot about the CFA Exam and I need to start preparing for it, I also have learned more about networking to make sure that I can make a lasting impression on anyone I meet because they might be able to help me in some point of my career. As mentioned earlier I think that the Speaker Club offers a great experience for anyone to participate in. I have learned new things that I would have not been able to learn in the
