Although trying something out far beyond your comfort zone may seem risky, taking on a challenge for yourself will help you increase your confidence, gain more experience, and be a source of help for later on in life. Doesn't it feel great to finish something that you thought you would never achieve? Research says that when you accomplish a hard goal, you feel very proud and your self esteem goes up by a high percentage. Who wouldn't feel really good inside when you just finish watching the whole American Horror Story TV series in 3 days, or finishing your first ever big race that made your palms sweat because you were nervous? I was scared I wasn't going to receive the respect I was supposed to get cause I was just a newbie compared to all my coworkers or that it would be too much stress on my life and I wouldn't be able to take that much responsibility. But at the end it turned out to be a big achievement as well as making me feel very proud of what I've done. Most challenges that people take help them gain more experience and see things in different aspects of life. You also increase your maturity level when you've taken on challenges. For example, elderly people have a lot of experience and they use it to give our generation words of wisdom when we're in a situation or taking the same risk they took when they were younger. Like that one story grandpa would always tell you about that one time he asked his wife to the dance when they were kids. You get to use your experience to help someone out that is going through the same type of situation. But if you wouldn't have taken on that obstacle, how would you be able to give that person advice?
