Sonoran Desert Landscape Architecture

A comparison and contraction of the usage of the native plant within the Sonoran desert by two interdisciplinary fields of architecture and landscape architecture. Architects work under a narrow spectrum constructing the structures inhabited by living things while landscape architects work on a broad spectrum constructing the surroundings to fit the needs of the people. However, both groups have a common goal with the way they use the native plant, that being for the betterment of humans without the destruction of the natural ecosystems.

Despite all that with the growth of the population and the creation of new infrastructures caused the Sonoran desert to become inhabited. However, the new developments also caused the demand for resources to increased having a negative effect on the native ecosystems. Nevertheless, many have taken it upon themselves to help reduce and rejuvenate the Sonoran desert ecosystems. One of the biggest contributors to the cause are the architects and landscape architects who are revamping the way we live to a more natural and sustainability approach with the help of native wildlife. Architects and landscape architects use the native Wildlife differently: the architects use it in commercial and residential developments for the benefit of the individual, while the landscape architects use it in urban to suburban developments. Landscape architects have been finding ways to solve the heat island effect which describes that dense urban areas are hotter than nearby rural areas because of the amount of heat the structures absorb throughout the day. To counteract these issue landscape architects has created min gardens, as well as, parks strategically placed within the cities to help reduce the amount the buildings absorb while cool c the city at the same time. The park created have other uses than just cool they are also used in the air quality and production within the urbanized cities. The dense layouts of cities cause a limit of breathable air to enter it and so to counteract this landscape architects use the already built parks and garden to help produce air within the city.
