I have known I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field since I was young. I was not quite sure what job I specifically wanted, however I have knew I had to set my goals high. Fast forward a few years, and I am about to be sophomore in high school. I was trying to make the varsity basketball team and I was doing everything I could to impress my coach, until the day my life was changed forever. I tore my anterior cruciate ligament in my knee the summer before my sophomore year. At the time I felt like my entire life was over, but that was not the case at all. Although this experience closed some doors, it opened so many more that have truly made me the person I am today.
A dear friend of mine suffers from Crohn’s disease. This is an inflammatory bowel disease that caused her much pain in the past few years. During our senior year of high school, she had a very serious flare up. She weighed only eighty-five pounds and could hardly eat an entire meal due to the severity of her condition. One day she asked me to go with her to an appointment at an imaging center where she would receive and ultrasound of her abdomen. That day is when I realized I wanted to become a diagnostic sonographer. So I went home and did my research. At the time I had a scholarship to attend OSU-OKC. However, when I saw this program that was partnered with Oklahoma City Community College I immediately spoke with my parents and made the decision to complete my semester at OSU-OKC and transfer to OCCC so that I could apply to this program. It is fast-paced and thorough. It worked out quite well, because I was able to complete all of the prerequisites before the application period. I could not turn down this opportunity. I have a desire to be successful. I ...

... are many ways to succeed academically, but at the root of it all there must be a genuine desire to learn. That means doing whatever it takes to fully understand and gain knowledge. Whether it is finding a tutor, reading a chapter five or six times, or just simply asking for help, academic success is solely based on the use of resources to their full potential.
More than anything I want to be successful. I fully comprehend that I have been given many opportunities that are helping me to achieve that. I would love nothing more than to be successful in this program and accomplish all that I have worked for. I want to become a part of this profession because I believe it is the best non-invasive imaging procedure in healthcare today. I am thankful for the opportunity to apply to this program and, if given the chance, I will excel and do my best in every way possible.
Diagnostic medical sonography is where sonographer coordinate high-recurrence sound waves into a patient's body using particular gear to analyze or screen a patient's restorative condition. As portrayed by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, some other branches of diagnostic sonography consist of: vascular technologist, also called diagnostic imaging workers, operate special imaging equipment to create images or to conduct tests. The images and test results help physicians assess and diagnose medical conditions.
Based on the case, I came to conclude that this case is a reckless behavior issue. According to the case, we know that the sonographer knew that the policy is not to leave a patient who has cognitive issues alone while waiting for an escort. However, this sonographer decided to leave because his shift was over after he pages for the escorts. This is a reckless behavior because the sonographer knew that he could not leave a patient unattended or alone until other healthcare professional come and take the patient. He was aware that it was wrong to leave a cognitive patient alone. However, he chose to leave because his shift was over. From my perspective, I strongly agree that his action is not justifiable because he decided to leave the patient
The dream that I most desire in life is to become a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. I’ve always had an interest in the inner workings of the human body, but I also value life, and care for others, and my happiness is the happiness of others. Although this career has its bumps on the road just to see mothers face light up when they see the image of their unborn baby is such a breath taking experience. This all originated from going to one of my sisters’ ultrasound appointment that I ended up going to all my sisters’ ultrasound appointments. I believe becoming a diagnostic medical sonographer is something I can do because I have what it takes. Diagnostic medical sonographer is imaging modality that can work in conjunction with other imaging modalities

This past fall I tried out for the varsity basketball team at my high school. I had played both on the freshman team and then last year on the junior varsity team. Playing on the varsity team is all I’ve wanted to do. I’d practiced all summer and in September and October to get ready for the try-outs at the beginning of November. Unfortunately I did not make the team. It was a huge blow for me because I had worked really hard and had expected to make it. Thankfully my moms and my friends were there to remind me that there were other paths to pursue my dreams. I could have easily been bitter and decided to stop caring, but they wouldn’t let me. I was humbled by this experience and decided to turn it into a positive. I’ve since decided to join the Wilson Live club at school. It’s a group that films and commentates sports events at school. This connects to a possible major that I’m interested in when I go to college--communications or sports
Although being academically smart is an important factor for this program, there are also other qualities that are just as important if not more. Some of those qualities that can make you an exceptional sonographer are being compassionate, caring, and being able to work well with others. The reason why I said this is because I believe “people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care” (John C. Maxwell). Also it’s critical that you understand the concept of teamwork and that you can work well with others. In this field you need to work with doctors and other caregivers to deliver the best care for the patient. I can assure you that if you give me this opportunity to study in this great program, you will not be disappointed, but in fact be pleased, because I will do whatever it takes to complete this program successfully and become a great diagnostic medical sonographer. I thank you very much for taking the time to read
“Here’s the baby’s heartbeat,” the ultrasound tech said to the excited parents, who were staring at the projection screen awestruck at the sight of their baby. I watched amazed as I too was awestruck, never before have I seen an ultrasound. The parents came into the hospital that day to have the baby’s measurements taken to see if it was safe for the mother to be induced. I continued to watch the tech while she measured, I couldn’t help but marvel over the fact that this may seem like a small act for medicine, but an important step for making sure the baby came into this world safe and happy. I felt so fortunate to be part of that experience; it made me realize that this is what I want to do for a career. I like the fact that this career is
Curiosity has always driven me towards successful new experiences, from leaving home to become a first-generation college graduate to researching articles as a member of a radiology team. Now I am thrilled to be applying for a residency program where I can indulge my curiosity and immerse myself into the study of radiology.
Earlier this year I had to go to the doctor and I found out that this area of Texas has very few ultrasound technicians and that they even had to call someone from Arizona to come help. In an area like this where sports is a major part of the culture. Choosing a career like this, in the medical field is a sound decision. The best job for me would have to be an ultrasound technician because the dress code is casual, it requires action, and the pay is good.
Ultrasound Technicians are very valuable in the world of health care. Also known as Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, an Ultrasound Technician uses special machines and equipment that operates on sound waves to determine or diagnose medical problems for patients. There are specializations within this field in which some individuals explore. For instance, areas of specialization includes but not limited to; pregnancy, heart health, gynecology, and abdominal sonography. Although each specializing branch has its own distinctive function, they all involve probing the body to facilitate doctors with diagnoses.
When this happened, I always tried to be optimistic and come out of this injury with more than I went into it with. From not playing soccer for one year, I gained so much knowledge of myself just from writing in a journal that I still keep at my house. I read it from time to time and I can still see the progression of my writing since I started writing, to the last entry in that journal. This part in my life was beneficial because I now know how to write at a college level. Before I tore my ACL I couldn’t write to save my life. I was a horrible writer and thanks to tearing my ACL I improved drastically. If this part of my life were to not happen I would probably be going to The University of Hawaii at Manoa with the rest of my classmates because that’s what our education pushed us
In an interview of Taylor Willis, he states, “Academically, I find success in getting the work done and getting ‘C’s on my work.” For some students, such as Willis, success can be found in just accomplishing the bare minimum of their work. However, an individual who is studious finds academic success in a much different way. David Williams states, “Success would be getting through something without struggling.” Individuals, such as Williams, find that accomplishing success without struggling will often result in achieving a high letter grade such as an “A” or a “B.” In doing so these are much different from their peers such as Willis. As a result, students often find success to be greatly different in an academic scene. Often, by achieving the best of their abilities will result in students finding
There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities can range from attending class to going above and beyond what’s expected. Success comes from the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I must step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay on top of what needs to be accomplished.
I am attending Baton Rouge General School of Radiologic Technology to pursue an Associates degree through Northwestern State University to become a licensed radiologic technologist. I chose this profession because I thoroughly enjoy helping others and making a difference in people’s lives. Radiologic technologists are expected to give efficient patient care while following the doctor’s order to proceed with the X-ray examination. Radiology is the most important role in healthcare because with out having X-rays, the surgeons could not see inside of the patient’s body to perform surgery. Doctors can not predict what is going on inside of a patient without having an X-ray. I am interested in this being my future career because
