Some people are never forgotten
Rubin and James both had tough lives. However each boxer overcame many different adversities. These two men faced the toughest opponents outside the ring, and they weren’t alone. When Rubin battled racism and segregation, James fought The Great Depression and feeding his family. The Great Depression was worldwide almost instantly; whereas racism and segregation mostly affected blacks, but was still a tremendous matter. James, just like most of America, was a victim of The Great Depression. Rubin, just like several other famous people, was a victim of racism and inequality.
Racial segregation was a serious matter, especially during the 1950s and 60s. As many people know The Civil Rights Movement took place during this time. The hatred for African Americans during this time; especially in the Southern states, was atrocious. Malcolm Little and Martin Luther King Jr. were assassinated for standing up for what they believe in and voicing their opinions.
Malcolm changed his name from Malcolm Little to Malcolm X. He did this because he said X would replace his slave name Little. He wanted to be and feel free; he didn’t want to feel like he was once owned. Malcolm Little was assassinated in 1965. He was shot while giving a speech. He was shot several times in the chest. Before he was killed, he was the founder, and leader of the Afro American Unity. X condoned, pushed, and pursued violence to get his point across. He often disagreed with MLKJ. King believed in no violence, but they both still wanted equal rights and an end to racism.

...lty of draft evasion in 1971. Conversely, the charges were negated due to a technicality. During all of this the court revoked his boxing title, so he couldn’t box; they also repealed his passport. They retracted his passport so he couldn’t flee the United States to fight.
It is tough to say who had it worse, for it is tough to understand the appalling times of each hero. Rubin and James both had their own nuisances to overcome. James fought through the Great Depression, while Carter contested racial problems, and later suffered prostate cancer. In termination, no one will ever understand why a person treads through the rigorous challenges in life, or their own personal hardships. What gives the person motivation to keep going and fight it to the end, for no one will ever comprehend the amount of fear someone truly faces, unless of course you are that person.
