The client’s presenting problem (describe the client's presenting problem)
One of the adolescent students who is a nine-grade student at the rural community high school has been referred to a school social worker. The teacher sent him after she had noted that there was a decline in the student academic achievement, and sometimes absence from the school without excuse in the recent weeks.
After the social worker, had reviewed the annual questionnaire which distributed to the students to determine the proportion of students, who were using alcohol or drugs at school, it turned out that a name of the student was on the list. “Social work practitioners and administrators might be incorporating SBIRT into their practices and workflows, respectively” (Berger, & Di Paolo. 2015. p.n. 219). At these stages the social worker will begin with the screening by which the client is evaluated. Next, the brief intervention which will contain four different steps start with raising the subject, provide feedback, enhance motivation, and negotiation and advise. Finally, the treatment and follow-up which include client linking with the professionals to provide the additional needs or services (SBIRT Education, n.d.).
In short, because the SPRT model proved effective in early intervention and treatment of drug and alcohol abuse, the model can be successfully integrated into social work classroom and in the field (Russett,
