Social Media has had an impact on politics through Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram over the years, which changed how campaigns and how Americans tend to interact with politics. It has made elected officials and candidates for office more accessible for voters having the ability to change content and post it where millions of people can view it within in minutes instantly. Facebook and Twitter is well known for organizing campaigns which allows the candidates to share information faster with their followers. It can also be used for fundraising which allows them to raise money fast in short amount of time for a donation and social media helps get the word out about the fundraiser. This options also offers the citizens to reconnect which gives a more positive outcome for the public responsiveness. They could use social media for direct persuasion meaning instead of trying to convince someone to vote for who you want to vote for, we could use social media as the source of persuasion to get others to understand their views towards their favorite candidate which would get more people involved. A lot of citizens tend to spend a lot of time on Twitter and Facebook which makes them more likely to have access to political websites and they will get the latest news for their friends before they even get a chance to hear it for themselves. I believe that social media is more for young people when it comes to politics because in a way it helps them understand it better by going through comments to see what others have to say about it opposed to older people tend to rely on actual cable TV and new websites. Although social media is the easiest way to spread out false information, but to better the political system we have to start watch the actual news on TV so we can stay updated with what is going on with
