Introduction. In the word today the use social media and smart phone are on the rise in the healthcare setting, social media is no longer an alternative tool in the healthcare, as it allows the nurse and all the health care group share information, ideas and professional experiences through online communication, social media provides a number of benefits including the marketing of brands like the major health care brands do. In fact, most businesses and professional organizations currently taking benefits of using the use social media for their marketing, which will connect with their consumers. Social media as help to promote good health care delivery. Social media platforms include such electronic communication outlets as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Other widely used means of instantaneous communications include wikis, blogs, tweeting, gaming environment, Myspace, Instagram, Skype, and the “hangout” on Google+(McGonigle & Mastrian, 2014). Some of this danger is already mention in the above scenario. Social media could cause problem that may destroy professional image of the person or institution. As seen in the scenarios, the nurse posts the patient photograph on the social media which is unprofessional, this act will result in the destruction of the institutions (Ventola, 2014). Security is also one of the disadvantages of smartphones/social media, whereby any one can easily access one information on the smartphone. One of the most major disadvantages is the breach of patient privacy which can interfere with ethical and legal behavior of nurses leading to the violation of patient privacy governed by HIPAA, violation may lead to legal implication and action may be taken.
