To Americanize the Germans, Nebraska passed the Siman Act in 1919. The Siman Act prohibited private and public educators from K-8 to teach their content in a foreign language. Robert T. Meyer filed a lawsuit against the State of Nebraska stating that the Siman Act was unconstitutional based on the due process of the Fourteenth Amendment.
