Domestic abuse is a problem in today’s society. Many people are affected by this issue and more awareness needs to be brought to light about this problem. Domestic abuse is violent or destructive behavior in the household that causes harm. Not only do many individuals receive bruises, scratches, and scars, but most are also damaged mentally. However, there are ways for the individuals who have experienced extreme violence to live regular lives without fear of what is to come. This could include having work professionals look for signs of abuse, helping children who witness abuse, or talking to the victims themselves. Overcoming the results of domestic abuse can be very challenging, but it is possible. Domestic violence victims can live normal …show more content…

One way is by talking to work professionals about how to look for signs of domestic abuse. These work professionals could be teachers that see the abused kids every day or coworkers that are around the victims of domestic abuse. The people that are regularly around these individuals undergoing abuse in the home need to be able to read the abused individuals well enough to know if something is wrong. It is critical that they learn to “identify indicators of domestic violence in cases of child maltreatment” because these mistreated human beings could be on the brink of death (Spath 498). However, it is not easy to recognize when someone is in harm’s way. In an article about protecting children who experience domestic abuse, it states, “safeguarding children affected by domestic abuse is a key responsibility…, but can be difficult to achieve” (Peckover and Trotter 399). Still, if this barrier can be overcome, this could have a positive effect on all individuals’ lives involved in helping with domestic abuse victims. These individuals assisting the harmed person could grow from this experience and learn to help others around them and not only abused persons. Once work professionals are informed on how to look for domestic abuse, they can start to find help for these individuals struggling through their everyday
