Nature’s Fuel is Slowly Killing us

With a world containing nearly 10 million people foods are our bodies fuel, a staple of life. Fast quick and convenient has become the new normal. Just like your car, if you put the wrong fuel in it will break down. By feeding your family healthy foods you are properly fueling their bodies to keep them from breaking down. Meat, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables are the staples of the American diet, along with easy convenient and cheap fast food. Many people don’t have much money to feed their families so the rely on fast foods chains, because they are inexpensive. Most of the food we eat is Genetically modified, and created by man. Jose Andres, Restaurant Chef says “as a chef it is important to listen to his guests and respect their wishes. Not doing that would-be failure to my business.” He also says, “the more we know about the foods we are eating, the better decisions we can make, making societies healthier and our culture richer as a result.” Steps we could take as individuals would we to educate ourselves and speak up. Congress should be supporting this forward movement to increase the health of our society. We should start with family education, knowledge is power and with power you can make a change. We can make changes in the foods we purchase by going to local farmers markets and growing our own food in gardens.
In conclusion with the nearly 10 million people in this world we need to provide food for, the understanding of mass growing of crops and animals is understood. Adding GMO’s to our food supply without letting people know what they are doing to our health is undeniably wrong. With education and support from our government and food manufactures this would allow the public to make educated decisions on what they eat.
