We all do things after school, we desire fun and relaxation at time, and homework is just in the way. Why are students required to do homework anyway? It’s a waste of time so students should not be required to complete the assessment. It’s causing students stress, which is resulting in students spending less quality time with there family and friends. It also causes students to be burned out and to not be as engaged with there school work as they should be . Even though students need to learn how to manage their time more efficiently, including budgeting your time to complete an assessment, they should not be required to do homework. Homework is a big waste of time and isn't efficient. To begin with, homework is causing insane stress for students today. When you get 30 minutes of homework from each class, that is 3 hours of homework! That leaves you no time for family dinners, game night, hanging out with friends, going to youth group or church, or activities like art, music, soccer, and maybe even feeding the homeless. When a child wants to be involved in there community, they …show more content…
So in a month around 10 more days of school is added to your plate! That’s a lot! In Text 2, the author writes, “After a busy day at school and extracurricular activities thrown into the mixs, sitting down to complete homework seems like a monumental task, causing some students children to feel burnt out well before they reach the tough final years of school.” So by the time students get to highschool they no longer want to have responsibilities of school, or life in general. High School really and students don't want to engage in the work that plans out their future. If students are so burned out from 6 to 7 hours of school, plus 3 hours of homework just creates students not to sleep, eat, or exercises. All because homework tires students. Students feeling burnt out is one of the many reasons homework should not be
A study in 2002 shows that homework causes kids moods to increased anxiety, depression, anger, and other mood disturbances among students. (Coulson)Kids have a seven hour day of school and then on top of that teachers are piling up a minimum of one thirty minutes worth of homework in each class. Kids get stressed out when they realize that they can't do anything fun in the evening which is suppose to be there fre. Homework causes kids to increases in stress and sleep deprivation. In time because they have to stay at home and finish their homework April, a researcher at Stanford University found that too much homework negatively affects kids by increasing stress and sleep deprivation and generally leaving less time for family, friends, and activities. (Graham)Kids don’t get enough sleep and get even more stressed out which causes them to do worse in school.Homework increases family and there conflict.Homework increases family conflict. And the more parents help with children’s homework, the more tension children experience.(Coulson)Homework causes more family conflict which tears families
After studying the issue of homework, and the teacher’s influence upon it, I’ve come to realize homework may be overused in today’s educational system. I feel teachers are depending too much on outside education and not enough on in-class learning. Also, I believe the United States Government needs to develop a "homework standard". Educators in general need to come together and encourage students to learn in the classroom, and spend less time out of school doing countless hours of busy work. Teachers must look at the best interests of the students and base learning on communication in the classroom.
It’s the last day of sixth grade and Jimmy has been expecting money in return for the hard work that he has put into his grades. He has mostly A’s on his report card and is figuring out how much money he will get and what he’s going to buy. But will Jimmy want money for doing what is expected from him, instead of being motivated intrinsically by the value of hard work? In the future Jimmy may have trouble with simple tasks because he has not learned how to motivate himself without money.
I think kids should not get payed to do chore because you will have to do them throughout life. Chores are something you have to do everyday or your house would be filthy. Kids should be able to pick there room up without getting paid. In addition to this I think kids should not get payed to do chores around the house.
In the year 2000, over 35 percent of kids said the only reason they disliked school was because of early start times. It is because of this that teens everywhere are truant when it comes to school. Teenagers should be for earlier start times because they will have more time to complete assigned homework and their after school activities would end earlier. With there being many more factors dealing with why early start times are better for the average student, the main argument lies with the fact that teenagers in highschool don’t complete their daily homework.
Imagine a situation in which a high school student must pass an exam with an excellent grade in order to acquire a scholarship. The student must have a scholarship in order to afford enrolling in college. A college degree is necessary to have a career in a lucrative job field. A career in a lucrative job field must be maintained in order to own a big house with a flat-screen TV and a deck overlooking a pond on a small acreage. Plus, raising four kids, and retiring at sixty-five are part of the deal.
Many students do not enjoy their homework even if it is only studying. These students would not be able to have any free time because there's homework. There should not be homework because classwork is already enough work, it takes time away from other activities, and it does not let kids have independent thinking, so they won’t be able to be hard workers.
If students get straight A’s in school and behaves well, should they get paid for it? Well, I think they should. Students work hard in school to get and maintain good grades, but they don’t get rewards for it. They spend a lot of time doing homework, studying for tests, making sure they behave well, and they don’t get rewards for it.
Many parents are also bothered over the force of homework on the connection between their kids and teens.... ... middle of paper ... ... Think about how much homework we’ve done since we were in kindergarten, how many times we’ve stayed up and woke up half-awake, how many times we’ve kept others awake, and how much paper we’ve wasted. If you think that is a lot, think of all of the students around the world doing the same.
We believe that Muster High School should give us less homework on a daily basis because too much can cause a great deal of stress, too much time is required to complete it, and it impacts our free time and sleep. We also learned
Homework shouldn’t be given out at schools because it doesn’t improve academic achievement. According to research by Penn State researcher David Baker, “Countries with very low average scores- Thailand, Greece, Iran -have teachers that assign a great deal of homework.” This shows that the more homework assigned the worse the scores. Furthermore, in Article 4, it states that, “In some nations like Algeria, Kuwait, and Morocco, more than 1 in 5 4th graders reported high levels of homework.”
Do you like taking a mountain of homework home? Well if you do then get off of this, but if you don’t like taking a mountain of homework home then keep on reading. One reason why students should have less homework is because when they come home they have a lot of stress because they have a lot of homework when they come home. When they come home instead of spending time with their family they have to do their homework and different people have different speed rates of doing their homework. One last reason is that some children have after school activities so they might not even have enough time to do their homework because they had no time to do it.
People have been stating that if the Superintendent denies homework, then students could get unemployed very easily and could raise the high poverty. To clarify, if students get used to not having homework, then they will end up doing poorly when they become an adult and start their careers. On the contrary, students should gain experience working instead of having so much homework. For instance, students shouldn’t need multiple hours of homework to complete each night. “There is no good evidence supporting that homework produces better academic achievement” (www.alfie kohn.org).
Homework is for suckers. Homework causes stress for students as well as for parents. Homework is extremely demanding and many students are spending far too many hours after school to complete their homework assignments. Although, some students may be able to whiz right through their homework, other students crawl along struggling at a snail’s pace. Consequently, family time is put on the back burner due to the time constraints of homework. Additionally, any extracurricular activities are also put on hold. Homework is nothing more than a scapegoat for teachers so that they can pawn off their due responsibilities on parents and students. Homework should be banned for students Kindergarten through 8th grade because the negative effects do not out weight the benefits that come from homework.
Students are bombarded with hours of homework every night and it interferes with their lives. They are tired of staying up late at night to finish their homework or a paper that is due the next day. They should not have this workload that they have every night because they also have to live their childhood. Life is too short to be staying up until 11:00 because of schoolwork. Homework is unhealthy for students and it is not academically beneficial for them.
