Death penalties are used throughout the United States, but should they really be?
Large amounts of the government's money is wasted because of death penalties. The death penalty should be banned because of its inability to stop causing problems.
First off, ending the death penalty can save the government big money. It costs $2 Million more dollars to put someone to death rather then sending them to prison an entire lifetime which only cost about $25,000 every year that they are in prison, According to the “2008 study of Maryland” By the Urban Institute. Support has Fallen significantly from a high of 80% since 1994. According to Gallup. The overall support of death penalties are also falling. Who has it on there books? As stated in “The cost of capital punishment” 35 states still use the death penalty and 15 states Have now banned it. The death penalty is losing popularity and reason.
Not to mention another 15 states are debating on banning capital punishment. If enough States Ban capital punishment why doesn't the U.S. ban it entirely. It is true that many people support capital punishment. But on the other hand the majority of people think it should be banned. In the end so many more people think that it Should not be a law, so why isn't it banned already by the united states. But that's not all...
