Over the course of the program, my overall perspective of my role as a citizen has been altered drastically. While I have personally learned a lot of new information regarding access to clean water and the topics concerning it, I have also learned about, and taken action about what I can do to have a positive impact on water accessibility and spreading crucial knowledge to those younger than me, so they can continue the cycle and magnify the impact that I may have had alone.
For my We Service Learning project, my partner and I created a presentation for a class of high school freshmen and organized activities for them to participate in. Our presentation outlined the issues involving pollution in the Chesapeake Bay. We created a gameshow-style …show more content…

Having this kind of impact is what truly changed my outlook on this from being an assignment, to being an opportunity to spread invaluable knowledge to the future generations about how to protect our planet. I then realized that educating others about environmental issues, and having a chain reaction only requires one action, such as giving a presentation to new high-school students.
Through this assignment, I also learned how to effectively complete a group project. While I have participated in group assignments previously, this is the first time a project has progressed entirely smoothly. By writing down our daily responsibilities, we were able to gauge how much work had to be done each day, and what order things had to be completed in to move on to the next portion of the presentation.
Overall, my We Service project has had a positive impact on not only myself, but an entire group of young minds who are now enthusiastic about the subject of environmental science and the impact of pollution on the Chesapeake Bay and ways to prevent or negate
