Do the words serial killer make your skin crawl? Do they frighten you? Serial murderers are very sadistic and crazy people. More and more people hear the words come up. Whether it be in the news, a television show, a movie, a book, or maybe even have nightmares about them. Serial murderers have been around for a long time. However, there is one serial killer that will very likely never be forgotten; Jack the Ripper is one of the most infamous serial murderers of all time due to how he terrorized London and possible Atlanta and New York City, but was never caught in any of the cases. The first letter was written on September 25, 1888 in red ink. However, he waited three days to mail it. It was titled “Dear Boss” , and sent to London’s Central News Agency. In the letter he kind of mocked the police. He said that he laughed at them when they were saying they were on the right track. He also said that he should not stop ripping prostitutes until he was caught, and that he could not wait to do it again. He said that he used red ink to symbolize the blood of the victims. The first victim was named Elizabeth Stride who was found at one o’clock A.M. off Berner Street. It seemed as though he had been interrupted before he could finish because the only thing that had been done to her was slashing her throat. She had no other acts of mutilation preformed on her. The second victim of the day was named Catherine Eddowes. She was found forty-five minutes after stride was, but her murder was far more gruesome. She was gutted and her entrails were heaped up on her neck. She was slashed across the face, disemboweled, and she had her throat cut. He took a kidney and made a small incision below the ear. In the first letter he promised the police an ear from his next victim. They think he was trying to get that ear to keep his promise. Another letter was sent to the Central News Agency while the police were looking for more evidence. The second letter read: It was not codding dear old Boss when I gave you the hint. You’ll hear About saucy Jack’s work tomarrow. Double event this time. Number one squealed a bit. Couldn’t finish straight off. Had no time to get ears for police.
