The lion king was based off the popular play Hamlet, by Shakespeare. In Hamlet, Claudius murdered his brother to achieve the throne and become King of Denmark. In The Lion King, Scar murdered his brother to get the throne as well. Scar will always be known in history as a villain from Disney, to Tragedy of Hamlet. Scar is a scary looking character, had many evil motives, but also wasn't as strong as he thought.
Scar was a slender character and moved very stealth like. He has orange fur with tan fur on his underbelly, and he had a sleek black mane. Different from the other lions in his pride, Scar has dark scarlet eyeshades, an angular nose, and neon green eyes. He has scar over his left eye which is what earned him his name. His original name was Taka, which means dirt and garbage.

He wanted to be the favored son and King of the Pride lands. Scar never took much interest in his subject or his pride. He felt like he was inferior to his brother. Which is why he decided to take his brothers life for his own selfish reasons. Even after he killed Mufasa, his brother, he still wasn't completely satisfied. He knew he would never live up to be a good king like his brother.

The movie, The Lion King, and the book, Hamlet, both have a similar story line. In both stories, the king is killed and revenge is sought by the king’s son. The murderers in the stories are the king’s brothers who want the power of the throne. After the death of the Kings, both of the villains successfully took over the kingdoms. While these villains ruled, the kingdoms slowly deteriorated. Neither of the sons liked the villains, but they did not know at first that they had anything to do with their father’s death. It took an outside force to convince them that they must vow revenge for their father’s death. Both sons had the wit to approach revenge strategically. They wanted the villains to know that they knew about how their fathers were murdered.
The book Hamlet was written by the author William Shakespeare. The story was about a young prince of Denmark named Hamlet who planned on getting revenge on his father's death, who was the father because the current king Claudius put poison in his ear and killed him. Then he took the throne of king which belong to Hamlet. Some of the themes in the book Hamlet can be related in today's world. because most of the themes in the book are related in today’s world. There are so many themes to choose from, but the most important is revenge. There are so many other good themes to pick, but this one stood out. Also, revenge is a good theme to pick because there many times in the book that people need to be revenge, and revenge can apply into today’s society as well to get even with other people.
They charge towards the celebration, and start to attack. The lions are appalled; the only thing they can think to do is fight back. Simba, being the king, knows he must take action to help save Pride Rock, so he jumps into the fighting, and he makes his way until his eyes meet Scar’s. Scar has a repugnant smirk on his face thinking about how well he’s achieved his plan. Without any words being said, they leap towards each other starting to fight. Claws flying, teeth biting; blood is going everywhere. It has been an even battle until Scar's hyenas return from the initial accident and join in on the fight. At this point, Simba has no chance. Scar was cunning, manipulative, and seemed to be sort of a narcissistic lion. However even with his evil and deceiving ways he was still a coward and would rather run than fight, although if cornered Scar was able to hold his own as seen in his tussle with Simba. Scar is full of nothing but hate and disgust for his brother and nephew and everybody against him. He does not care much about the hyenas and seemed to of viewed them more as tools and weapons to use for his own benefit, this ultimately ended in his death when he tried to blame his plan on them.
