The lion king was based off the popular play Hamlet, by Shakespeare. In Hamlet, Claudius murdered his brother to achieve the throne and become King of Denmark. In The Lion King, Scar murdered his brother to get the throne as well. Scar will always be known in history as a villain from Disney, to Tragedy of Hamlet. Scar is a scary looking character, had many evil motives, but also wasn't as strong as he thought.

Scar was a slender character and moved very stealth like. He has orange fur with tan fur on his underbelly, and he had a sleek black mane. Different from the other lions in his pride, Scar has dark scarlet eyeshades, an angular nose, and neon green eyes. He has scar over his left eye which is what earned him his name. He wanted to be the favored son and King of the Pride lands. Scar never took much interest in his subject or his pride. He felt like he was inferior to his brother. Which is why he decided to take his brothers life for his own selfish reasons. Even after he killed Mufasa, his brother, he still wasn't completely satisfied. He knew he would never live up to be a good king like his brother.

His brother's mention is one of the only subjects that can flare his temper, causing him to strike Sarabi and nearly devour Zazu. This reveals that Scar suffers from a lack of self-esteem, perhaps one of the main motivations behind his stealing of the throne.
