Sometimes it takes something amazing to happen so that we can realize we're no longer children and adulthood is knocking on our door. I never knew that many people looked up to me or even noticed me. Running for homecoming queen really helped me realize that I was turning into an adult. My grandfather always pushed me to run for homecoming, he even asked me to run in middle school but I never wanted to. I'm so thankful for the experience because it taught me a lot and I would still be in negative situations if I hadn't ran. Everyday I would procrastinate and ask myself if it was even worth it. I was stressing over posters, the perfect dress, the perfect hairstyles, if I was campaigning correctly and everything under the sun. I missed school days to pick things up for homecoming, having to drive to the beach and change dresses two days before my ceremony was extremely stressful. The most important thing was staying on top of my work, school is always my number one priority and of course I managed to stay on the honor roll. …show more content…

When the clock started winding down for halftime I became so nervous but I just knew that my support system wouldn't let me down. As I walked down the field with my escort the crowd yelled so loud and clapped so hard it was overwhelming. Even though I heard loud screams, I still didn't know if I would I become the queen. The man with the microphone called out the winners from 2nd runner up to the queen and I couldn't believe my ears, he called my name for 1st runner up. I was so excited to place and my bestfriend was crowned
