Reagan's overall ranking/ score was 641 for the final score in 2009. I choose Ronald Reagan because one of his biggest accomplishments was reversing the policy of detente. The policy of detente was meant to release tensions between the soviet union. The name of the policy was given to a period of improved relation between the united states the soviet union. The berlin wall was separating families apart, and keeping people from jobs and opportunities in the west. It was to prevent the citizens of east germany from fleeing to the west. The wall was known to the west people as “the death strip” because as many people tried to flee to the other side they were being killed. Reagan was endlessly trying to push his strategic defence initiative and gave aid to rebels that were battling the soviets. He became an hollywood actor in his twenties and later on served as a republican governor of california from 1967 to 1975. Then reagan became the two-term president. He did multiple things in his presidency from cutting taxes, Did a nuclear arms agreement with the soviets and it was to help bring a quicker way to end the cold war. Reagan also increased defense spending. His public Persuasion rating was the best score out of any other one he got, the score was 3 out of 42 in 2009. His final score for this was 89.4.
President Reagan's agenda and setting was regan wanting to try and improve america's status by increasing military spending, reducing taxes, and he wanted to give congress a balanced budget, even though the debt almost tripled in size, unemployment dropped and inflation fell. For the vision and setting agenda he ranked 7 out of 42. I feel that it is very good that unemployment dropped meaning that there was more jobs for the poor people.
