Describe the role of the President The President of the United States has many roles. Head of state is one; it is head of the government. Some officials in the political system do not agree that the president should have so many roles. Second is Chief Executive. With this role, he is obligated to enforce acts of congress, federal courts and treaties. In addition, the president is Commander in Chief of the armed forces. In this role, he has control over our military as needed. As Chief Diplomat, the president is in charge of American Foreign Policy. He can make agreements with other countries. This is an important part of the constitution. With this, each of the three branches can limit the powers of the others. They do this so that no one branch becomes too powerful. This system incorporates the need for agreement and compromise. One example of checks and balances in action is President Obama’s plan to expand the U.S. role in Iraq and Syria. Another example in 2003, President Bush had congress declare war on Iraq for the suspicion that the government had weapons of mass destruction. In addition, when the Bush administration attempted to reform the ailing social security system by pushing for a plan to give the young workers the option on how to invest their social security money, but congress stopped that. Describe the structure of the federal court system The federal court system had three structures. The first is the Supreme Court. This is the highest court in the federal system. This court is often called, “The highest court in the land.” It hears appeals from the state courts and federal courts. There are nine justices and there is not a set term for them. The next is the courts of appeal. They are divided into twelve regions. They are also known as the circuit courts. Eleven of the twelve handle cases from different states. The President of the United States is instrumental in the running of the country. He serves as the chief executive, chief diplomat, commander in chief, chief legislator, chief of state, judicial powers, and head of party. Article II of the Constitution states that the President is responsible for the execution and enforcement of the laws created by Congress. He also is tasked with the authority to appoint fifteen leaders of the executive departments which will be a part of the President’s cabinet. He or she is also responsible for speaking with the leaders the CIA and other agencies that are not part of his cabinet because these agencies play a key role in the protection of the US. Checks and Balances. Checks and balances is a system that is a part of out U.S. Constitution. This system was put in to place so that no part of government would have too much power. The three branches: judicial, legislative and executive are constantly granting and checking the other branches actions, this is to make sure no one person can gain an excessive amount of control in government. For example according to ," the legislative branch is in charge of making laws. The executive branch can veto the law, thus making it harder for the legislative branch to pass the law. The judicial branch may also say that the law is unconstitutional and thus make sure it is not a law.The legislative branch can also remove a president or judge that is not doing his/her job properly. The executive branch appoints judges and the legislative branch approves the choice of the executive branch. The formal definition of checks and balances is a system that allows each branch of government the ability to counterbalance the influences of the other branches in order to prevent the concentration of power in only one branch, becoming a tyrant. When the framers of our revered Constitution came together to produce our governing system, they wanted to avoid the precedent of an all powerful entity that could control its citizens. They broke governments role into three important phases, which were the power to make laws, the power to interpret laws, and the ability to enforce them. To further decentralize these authority holding organizations, they created a system that allowed each of the three sections to have a say in each of the others ability to exercise said authority. This organization of overlapping power is referred to as a checks and balances system and was intended to create three equal powers to govern the United States. Over the years since its creation the initially equal powers have become unbalanced, but to understand how the scales have been tipped, one must understand each branches powers that allow them to carry out their mission, the powers that they have to balance out the other two branches, and the circumstances that have led to a change in the power equation.

The founding fathers of the American Constitution divided the government up into the following three branches to prevent the majority from ruling with an iron fist; legislative, judicial, and executive. The three braches were created by the Constitution: Article 1, Legislative branch made up of the House and the Senate, collectively known as Congress; Article 2, Executive branch, or President; Article 3, Judicial branch, made up of the federal courts and the Supreme Court. An example of checks and balances, congress can approve and move forward with a presidential nomination and impeach the President from office, impeach is defined as removing the president from office. Whenever a law case is issued, Trial Courts are always the first court people would have to go through. The U.S. District Courts are the Federal Trial Courts. As the lowest level of the Federal Court System, The U.S. District Courts take care of most of the Federal cases. The State of California courts is called the Superior Courts. Similar to the U.S. District Courts, Superior Courts heard most of the State cases (Superior Court of California).

The check and balances play the roles of the three branches of government. This system was made so that no one branch will over power the other. The three branches come together and help one another by being independent of the other. For an example, when a bill is in progress and the chief executive (president or governor) does not approve of it, he can reject legislation and return it to the legislature with reasons for the rejection. For example the chief legislator title gives the president power to sway congress into supporting or not supporting an awaiting piece of legislation by lobbying the members of the legislature. The president also has the power, under the chief legislator label, to delineate the constitutionally mandatory address to the congress of the annual State of the Union.
First, according to justice.gov, “The federal court system has three main levels: district courts, circuit courts, and the Supreme Court of the United States.” The courts all have a different role to play in the judicial system. Court systems exist to provide justice for all. Now, the district court system is the beginning of the judicial system. A good amount of the cases handled by the district court system are either criminal or civil trial cases.
The US court system consists of a trial court, an appellate court, and a supreme or high court. The trial court is the first to hear the facts of a case and has original jurisdiction. The appellate court hears cases whose resolution is disputed by the losing party in the trial court. The supreme or high court hears cases whose outcome is disputed by the losing party in the appellate court. The supreme or high court chooses which cases warrant a hearing. The federal and the state court system have the same basic structure. Each consists of a trial court, an appellate court, and a supreme or high court. The Federal Court of Appeals has thirteen (13) circuits which cover most states except the District of Columbia. The federal system also has specialty courts such as the Court of Federal Claims and the United States Tax Court.
Of the 7 roles of the U.S. President the one I feel should be seen as the most important and take the most seriously would be Commander in Chief because being Commander in Chief. The reason is because you control the armed forces which is very important because you have to think about what you do before you deploy this men or women because if you deploy them they could all die or they could do something that in the eyes of America doesn’t look good.
Many people living in The United States like to think that our founding fathers thought of the basic construction of our whole government system. They really did not; Charles-Louis Secondat, baron de Montesquieu thought of the system of checks and balances plus the three branches of government. The whole framework of our Constitution is based on what Montesquieu thought of during the enlightenment period. The purpose of the three branches is to make it where no one person or group of people is greater than the rest. Montesquieu wanted to make a government where the people had a say in what happened and there wasn't a single person in charge. The system of checks and balances was to reinforce what he was trying to do. Making it where one branch could stop another from making a bad choice for the country. This system of checks and balances mostly is there to stop one branch from abusing the other or from making decisions the people do not want.
