Executively Powerful There are six executive officers (including the governor) and it is the governor that is acknowledged as the chief executive of the state. According to article five section one of the Nevada State Constitution it states, “The supreme executive power of this State, shall be vested in a Chief Magistrate who shall be Governor of the State of Nevada” (Bower 71), this not only gives the title to the governor but also gives the executive power to the chief magistrate as well. In order to fulfill the duties of governor, the person elected is instilled with the power to assign a considerable number of executive-branch officials. In its place, the governor is now part of the state Board of Pardons Commissioners, which also includes the attorney general and seven justices of the state supreme court and there must be a majority vote to pass a pardon. Yet, in article five of the Nevada State constitution it states that if the governor was not in the majority vote to pass the pardon then he can exercise the right to veto that pardon. So, even if all eight of the Pardons Commissioners were to vote yes, if the governor wasn’t part of that majority then the pardon would not pass. Moreover, the president’s title of chief economist gives him the responsibilities of crafting and submitting a budget to congress. These highlights the important roles the president has as the manager of the economy. The president has numerous other titles, such as commander in chief, chief executive, party leader, chief of state, and chief diplomat.
