The two main component of fitness used extensively in football is cardiovascular and muscular endurance. Cardiovascular endurance is mainly focused on the respiratory system and it determines how effective your heart is in pump blood and oxygen to the muscles. It also focuses on what level your heart rate is at (bpm) and how much oxygen you physically need when playing sports. Muscular endurance mainly focus on the muscular system and it determines how long you muscles can be physically working for, at both lower and higher intensities, when playing a sport. It is the speed which your muscles take to tire and fatigue. In football, you are having to constantly running around the pitch to either receive passes, create space, run back to your
The majority of children who play football will not avoid the inevitable and most likely sustain an injury to their body. However, there are some positive attributes for children to learn when participating in youth football. Some positive attributes children will learn are physical fitness, discipline and structure, and the importance of teamwork. The aforementioned attributes are favorable for children where they will learn to be young men, adapt to life, and adjust to different circumstances off the
Muscle endurance is the ability to perform a lot of repetitions against a given resistance for a long period of time. The combination of strength and endurance results in muscle endurance. Muscle endurance is used in may sports such as rowing, swimming, cycling, distance running, field hockey and American football. Normally, an endurance muscle program involves lifting about 12-25 repetitions of moderate loads. In some cases, this is inadequate for many sports such as boxing, canoeing and x-cross skiing.
Speed and stamina are a couple of key components in the sport of football. I would like to improve my current speed and stamina levels so I can beat the opponents to the ball and skim past defenders and stamina so I can outlast everyone on the pitch so when everyone’s
Fitness Requirements for Football Football is a game that requires aerobic and anaerobic fitness. Aerobic fitness is the most important quality in football, closely. followed by anaerobic fitness, running, speed and agility. Footballers tend to cover less distance and work at lower intensities during the second half of the game then during the first half. This is because fatigue limits a player to a certain level.
This game requires immense amounts of exercise and cardiovascular activity. In an article on Youth Football Online.com it states, “Football is a physically demanding sport that will have the kids exercising every practice and game.” Football is filled with physical activity from running sprints, to lifting weights, to just simply playing the game. It is one of the best sports to get physically fit from. I feel myself working the hardest I ever have when I’m on the field. You endure multitudes of different types of training during football making it great for your health. Compared to other sports, it by far requires the most work all
Creative new training methods, developed by coaches, athletes and sport scientists, are aimed to help improve the quality and quantity of athletic training ( Kellmann, 2010, p.1). However, these methods have encountered a consistent set of barriers including overtraining ( Kellmann, 2010, p.1). Due to these barriers, the need for physical and mental recovery in athletics brought an increasing attention in practice and in research ( Kellmann, 2010, p.1).
Endurance needs to be tested in the athlete as the athlete is active for large periods of time. This includes the constant treading throughout the game, the swimming and generally not stopping at

Gaelic football place a range of demands on players who must possess the necessary fitness to cope. The fitness requirements for Gaelic games are multifactorial. (Collins K). Speed and agility are important characteristics in winning possession and evading opponents and for chasing opponents in possession of the ball. Endurance and
Introduction Blood doping, or induced erythrocythemia, is a term used to describe any means by which a person’s total volume of red blood cells is increased (Wilmore, 1994). The strategy has been adopted by a number of athletes, with positive results in endurance sports such as cycling, cross-country skiing and long-distance running. Whilst a fairly small increase in erythrocyte mass is seen in athletes after months of endurance training, dishonest athletes may strive to increase their erythrocyte mass further through the illegal and unethical processes blood doping or administration of human recombinant erythropoietin (rHuEPO). The potential benefits of using such procedures are alluring to the athlete; the increase in erythrocyte mass (and so too in haemoglobin) causes a subsequent increase in the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood, providing an increased supply of oxygen to the active muscles and making them more fatigue-resistant. Furthermore, the increased erythrocyte mass causes improved thermoregulation and lactate buffering, which are also of great advantage to the athlete competing in an endurance event.
To be a football player, you don't only have to do exercises for your health. You also have to eat healthy. After a comprehensive literature overview, I am more convinced and confident about the importance of agility and its strong influence on the football performance. Furthermore, I believe that different definitions and controversies should not only be understood as important sports specific differences but also as specific differences inside the sport itself. Even in literature CODS and agility are recognized as independent skills, therefore, I keep considering the CODS as the surface of agility with respect to the earlier phases of LTAD.
The physical aspect of sports requires extensive hours dedicated to the gym and practice. There is not always going to be a coach or trainer there to force athletes to do drills and workout. Nor will there be a coach constantly telling a player what to do on the playing field. It is up to the individual athlete to take the initiative and make decisions on their own. Like athletes, there is not always a manager or boss to harp on an employee to ensure financial reports are completed or the quarterly projection presentation is ready to show to the rest of the team. Self-motivation is a guaranteed expectation in both instances. In an article titled “Why Business Innovation Is Important” the Queensland Government of Australia’s Business and Industry Division explains that “Businesses that fail to innovate run the risk of losing ground to competitors, losing key staff, or simply operating inefficiently.” (1) In business, initiative is required to achieve results and to bring work to a conclusion. Taking initiative does not always mean coming up with new ideas, it can also relate to proactive situational assessment. This is the ability to read a situation and come up with a way to seek resolution. In sports making plays in split seconds or reading a defense fall into this category. In the corporate realm this could mean fixing an operational procedure to be more efficient, coming up with ways to save money or to turn a bigger profit as well as new marketing strategies. In business and sports alike,
Physical fitness is an inseparable part of sports performance and achievements. The quality of its utilization value is directly proportional to the level of performance. That means the greater the level of fitness, the greater will be the ability of a person to attain higher level of performance. Players are required to have good physical fitness that will enable successful performance at the competitive level. The sport specific technical skills in sports are predominant factors. The physical fitness of a player however can be a decisive determinant of success during competition (Smekal et al.,
