Robert J. Nash attends a colloquium in San Francisco where topics of social justice will be covered. He immediately witnesses a debate on Proposition 8, which was approved to ban the rights to gay marriage in the state of California, between a person against and for the law. What Nash noticed was that the debate was between two persons who were emotionally charged over religious identity and GLBT identity. During his plane ride back to Vermont, Nash wanted to apply what he learned from the colloquium to his teaching techniques so he can be a more skillful educator to his students.
