To whom it concerns, For the last eight years, I have been proud to be a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Originating from a fourth generation Canadian Military family, I have known since childhood that I would serve my country. Currently, I am a trained Aircraft Structure Technician (ACS Tech). From 2005-2006, SFC Peek served as the Detachment Sergeant for the 926th Medical Detachment, 14th Combat Support Hospital, Fort Benning, Georgia. His commitment to excellence impacted the entire organization from the start. During this period he developed a METL based training matrix which ensured an appropriate unit assessment and a deliberate long range training plan. His efforts resulted in 100% training completion of collective and individual tasks which significantly improve the overall T rating for the unit. In addition to his operational and training experience, he successfully developed and implemented over 30 SOPs for mandated unit programs. SFC Peek excelled as a senior NCO, reflected by his selection on the 2005 Master Sergeant’s list.
The NJROTC, or Naval Junior Recruit Officer Training Corpse, is built not only to teach high school students about the navy but also allows student to become our great leaders of the future. In NJROTC cadets are asked to live up to very high standards because those students in NJROTC are thought of as the best of the best and are at that school to represent the military way of life. In this program I have learned three traits that will help me better myself not only in the future but in the day I live today. These traits that I speak of are discipline, punctuality, and respect. If not for NJROTC I would have not been as great a person and would have little or no direction in my life.
Staff Sergeant (SSGT) Louis Moeller shaped me into the Recon Marine I wanted to be and the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) that I am now. By embodying the Recon Creed and always setting the example, he made me want to be an NCO that my troops would look up to and want to follow. Even when not in charge he was constantly the one peers and junior Marines alike, turned to for guidance and inspiration. To this day, I still find myself asking “What would Louis do?” when confronted with a leadership dilemma.
My journey into the Air Force was one that started off as a business transaction which transformed into one of duty, honor, and service. I have had the distinctive honor of leading joint forces to search for downed aircrew and leading multinational forces to increase combat capability on the Republic of Korea. I know that I am a part of the Air Force lethal force and am prepared to answer my nations calling in any way required.

Attending a service academy is the ultimate beginning to my future plans of serving my country. I am ready for the challenges that academy and military life has to offer. I desire to be challenged mentally, morally and physically. In addition, I strive to uphold the highest ideals of honor, determination and selfless service. I’m intimidated by the fear of being average; in other words I’m never content with myself because there is always room to grow. I’m a motivated individual who is constantly on the pursuit to better myself both mentally and physically. My thirst for knowledge has led me to a service academy. The certain prestige that comes with attending a service academy is a small achievement compared to the sacrifice that it takes to get there.
As a Marine, it is imperative to have leadership skills along with being capable of working with others. This book was written to enhance the reader’s mentality of how the Marines operate. It informs those who are looking into the service, and provides an in depth look into the trials and tribulations it has been through—as well as conquered. This book substantially explains the vigorous training platoon 3086 went through in order to earn the title of being a Marine.
Commissioning in the Air Force has been a life-long aspiration. My grandfathers enlisted, but went on to retire as field-grade officers with careers spanning WW2, the Korean War and the Vietnam conflict. Their experiences inspired me to follow in their footsteps and serve my country. After starting college, I soon enlisted due to financial hardships but my desire to commission never waned. Over 10 years’ service, my goal of commissioning ultimately took a back seat to my missions, Airmen and responsibilities at hand. However, I have always sought out opportunities to advance my abilities through holding key positions and seeking out added responsibilities. By earning a commission, I will continue to grow professionally, improve our Airmen and further expand our service's capabilities.
As a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, preparing myself and rising to the challenge of the Sergeant Audie Murphy Club induction sets the right example for my fellow NCO’s, especially the junior NCO’s that look at me as a Leader they aspire to be. Whether it is the NCO’s at my current station or NCO’s from my past Leadership positions, I always endeavor to set a positive example for them to keep moving forward and progressing in their careers. As our forefathers before us stated, ‘‘No one is more professional than I. I am a Noncommissioned Officer, a leader of soldiers. As a Noncommissioned Officer, I realize that I am a member of a time honored corps, which is known as “The Backbone of the Army (“The NCO Creed written by SFC Earle Brigham and Jimmie Jakes Sr”). These words to the Noncommissioned Officer should inspire us to the fullest with pride, honor, and integrity. The NCO creed should mean much more than just words whenever we attend an NCO’s school.
The person that is next in command after the Battalion Commander is the Executive Officer (XO). The executive officer’s purpose is to help the Battalion Commander to run the whole program. The XO will also help the Battalion Commander send orders to the rest of the staff and cadets. The XO must be hardworking, well-rounded, firm, and responsible. I think that the position of XO would be a good fit for me because I possess these characteristics. I hope that I will be able to implement new ideas such as new clubs and programs to give cadets more opportunities to be involved in JROTC. I would also like to have guest speakers and recruiters come in and speak to the cadets about the different career paths that they can take. I think that obtaining

Over the years I have had many opportunities to work on basic mentorship with my junior NCOs and Soldiers, just like SSG Johnson taught me throughout the 1980’s. I have tried to minimize my mistakes and maximize my time with Soldiers, teaching them how to soldier, teaching them how to lead, teaching them how to live as responsible human beings and Stewards of the Profession. The legacy I would like to leave behind is that Soldiers come first, everything else follows.
I have been blessed to have led a highly fulfilling career over the past 22 years. The Air Force’s standards of conduct and performance have helped me mature into an adult while creating lasting memories along the way. I have had the opportunity to make significant contributions to my country that offer a sense of pride and personal achievement. My current duties allow me to directly contribute to the Air Force and Joint arena on an almost daily basis. Joining the Air Force helped me to realize I had undertaken a task bigger than myself.
